I want to kick off a grass-roots movement to educate and inform discerning Democrats about the real nature of their party and am soliciting suggestions from Freepers. The reasons I am doing this are several, as listed below:
* I have several conservative Democrat friends who have always voted D, but who disagree with the stance of their party on issues like AA, tax-cuts, and regulations.
* These people do not understand that regardless of the "moderate" local Dem candidate they vote for, the party agenda is driven in Congress by an extremely liberal faction of the party.
* Case in point #1: I alerted one friend to Rep. Rangel's remarks about the death of Hussein's sons yesterday (Rangel said it was "illegal" for the US to kill them). The friend said he disagreed with Rangel, and the majority of the Dems would similarly disagree with the Congressman. I asked this friend if he knew who Rangel was. He had never heard of him. I informed him coolly that if the Dem regain the House, Rangel would become the Chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Cte., where all spending bills originate, and that he is one of the most influential members of his party in the House. The friend was shocked.
* Case in point #2: I asked another Dem friend what he thought of Kerry. He gave me a canned response about his Vietnam service, etc. I then asked him if he knew about his anti-Vietnam war stance. He said he did not, but that his parents (lifelong Dem voters like himself) hated Jane Fonda and everything she stood for. I then forwarded him the NewsMax expose of Kerr's Vietnam stance, his anti-war book, his rallies with Fonda and Ramsey Clark, and his statement to the US Senate in 1971. After reading all that, he said he was disgusted, and would forward it to his mother. He conceded that if Kerry were to be the nominee, he would vote for Bush.
* The problem is that these Dem voters are blissfully unaware of the voting records of their candidates and representatives. All they go by are finely crafted campaign statements issued during the last few weeks before the election where they pay homage to FDR, Truman and JFK. As a result, these dopey Dem voters (like my friends and their parents) continue voting for these candidates thinking they are voting for FDR/JFK-like candidates.
We need to educate these people and keep them as well informed as we Freepers are about the real day to day legislative agenda of the Rat Party. We need to highlight how they continue to vote against the best interest of these conservative, patriotic Democrats (like my friends) and how they continue to display hypocrisy by constantly changing their stance on major issues.
How do we do this?
Governor Bush applauded Florida's continued unprecedented economic growthand low unemployment. The news comes from a report conducted by GlobalInsight, an economic consulting firm, and published by USA Today. Six of the top 10 largest metropolitan areas in the nation with the strongest projected employment and personal income growth were in Florida.
The report credits Florida with having a favorable business climate and tax structure, in addition to a dynamic quality of life that makes the state attractive to businesses wishing to relocate. Florida has also benefited from affordable housing and its status as the "Gateway to the Americas," where the state's largest trading partners are located.
"Florida's workforce system is rising to the challenge to make certain the businesses that expand their Florida operations and those that relocate here have a well-trained and ready workforce to ensure their success," said Susan Pareigis, Director of the Agency for Workforce Innovation.
Earlier this year, Governor Bush directed the heads of the Agency for Workforce Innovation, Enterprise Florida, and the Department of State to convene a series of eight regional economic diversification workshops throughout the state. These workshops will encourage business, community, government and economic development leaders to jointly identify priorities and action steps to diversify the state's economy. For additional information about the strategic planning process or the workshop schedule, log on to www.eflorida.com/strategicplan.
Florida's going global is a plus, not a minus.
Europe was bound and determined to sign the ICC treaty. Just as Old Europe opposed our war on Iraq no matter what we said or did, so to were they going to ratify the ICC no matter what we said or did. Expending efforts here to convince Old Europeans not to ratify that treaty would have been largely wasted effort. It also happened under Clinton. Bush came into office and unsigned it.
I will not argue with you.
C ya!"
When did you become indoctrinated with the limp and bent over? I thought you prided yourself in having a logical mind that could discuss issues. It appears you've been indoctrinated in running away from the truth.
I agree there's no point continuing the discussion.
Really? Can you show a single post that you made criticizing the ICC prior to Bush killing U.S. involvement in it?
I hadn't realized that funding NGOs at the federal level was a state's rights issue. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Heh heh heh...
Bush stopped Kyoto at the national level, and I dare say stopped it at the Texas level while he was governor there, though with a Democratic legislature back then who knows if he was really able to stop every back door aspect of Kyoto.
If you want to prevent various aspects of Kyoto from being implemented at the state level, you'll have to recognize that such actions aren't going to be labeled as "Kyoto" anything, but rather that other stealth names will be given to such actions...and you'll have to get involved at a local level. Bush can't be everywhere for you.
I grow quite weary of folks who profess to know what's going on, not knowing what government funded NGOs are doing at the state level, but are willing to blame me for not stopping them.
I'll tell you what, you get me ten, twenty, fifty or one hundred million of the NGO dollars that they get from the federal government, and I'll be able to stop at least some of what you and I are paying them to do now.
My gathering an army of five thousand isn't going to compete with the government dollars that support these efforts, and I would think you could see that.
You state that Bush can't be everywhere. What I am finding out is that Bush can't be much of anywhere that interdicts leftist ideology these days.
Let me ask you this. Is the supplimental medication enhancement bill also a result of me sitting on my couch?
If you'd worry a little less about the wear on my couch and a lot more about the actions of a man who's causing the wear on the Oval Office's desk chair, I think this nation would be better off.

As others have suggested, the UniBubba is a prime candidate for their first trial. However, as much as I may like the sound of that, this world court idea will be
perhaps the single worst thing to every happen to your and my civil rights.
We have no say whatsoever, when it comes to what the world court's guiding principles will be. And once it gets a firm hold on the world community, we'll be at it's
mercy.
This is one idea we should pound home to every single Senator and Congressman. And if they don't reject this world court, then we should reject them. This is very
important.

Fraud.
There you go again, attempting to minimize those that were born here, with the "chance of birth citizenship" insinuating that it is somehow substandard, or somehow lacking compared to those that were too weak to make their own countries better, too weak to fight the socialism and tyranny in their own countries, too weak to stand up to the dictators, so you like many others, decide to come here and run down, and talk crap to American citizens. You didn't have the guts to stand in your own country and take a stand. Apparently none of your people back home have the guts either. What are they waiting for? American blood to be shed so they can call themselves free?
I had to earn it by understanding it, and the underlying principles...specifically that principle which commands the Federal government to acquiesce to the will of the people.
You earned nothing. True American's, those of us that are awake, those of us that were born here, those of us that are veterans, can see that as time marches on, the Federal government has no intention of acquiescing to the will of the people. In light of what ever loser country you happen to come, you still seem to think that what ever you were told in your PC, fast track citizenship class, that it is all somehow true.
If you had any guts at all, you would get back on your boat and head back to your home country and make it right. You like so many others come here and beat your gums about the government as if our government is somehow all innocent and good. *Our* Founding Fathers warned us about much of what we are witnessing today.
You see Willie, the first three words of the U.S. Constitution arer the single most important words in that venerable document: "We the people...", and that's never changed.
There you go, referring back to your fast track citizenship class. It has changed Mr. fast track citizen. Lawyers and special interest groups, large corporations, are dragging this nation into the gutter, and have been for many years. The will of the people wanted our borders secured, and our sovereignty protected. The government told us to piss off. The government is almost in every aspect of our lives, and gets worse every year. They have told the people to F-off.
I realize that you believe that this idea of government by the will of the people is nonsense, I disagree, as did my role model:
Your roll model Ronald Reagan, if he could see Texas, California, Arizona, Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia, and many other states *today*, that are being completely over run by this out of control, government sponsored invasion of our borders, and immigration free for all. Where thousands are sworn in at once in stadium events, Reagan would have turned your boat around in short order.
Reagan today, would have probably told you and millions of others to stay the hell put in you're own damn countries and make you're own countries right, instead of doing the easy thing and coming to America. Like Americans did.
Who knows, you could have even made a difference in your own country, but that is probably unlikely, as it take guts to go up against tin horn dictators, and you, by your actions of coming here on the fast track citizenship seminar, would have probably been working for the dictators, back home, while singing a different tune. Try going back where you came from, and creating a roll model in your own country, stand up the tyrants if you have the guts, make your own country right even if it means dying. And when you do, if you do, then you can come back and tell us how you *earned* freedom in your own country.
You are typical of most foreigners that have arrived here in the last 30 years or so. They walk in here, and if everything doesn't go their way, they start getting vile, calling others names and routinely pulling the race card. Like you did with me and others. You called me a nazi, racist, bigot, kkk member and you never could prove any of those vile, nasty, dirty false accusations. You are so damn typical and nazi like. Your method of operation is very similar to the nazis. Attempting to silence others that don't fit your agenda, with wild false accusations. Nazis did the same exact thing, they attempted to silence others at all cost. Just like you. Go back to where you came from, and earn your own freedom, in your own damn country, go make it right, instead of standing on the backs of dead Americans that fought for our own freedom here. Go back home and do it if you have the guts.
Beaten on your keyboard all day wont get it. Your going to have to spill some of your own blood if you want it. My guess is you'll be here tomorrow, playing fast track citizen.....
In your case, it was probably closer to chance of drunken night out.
Presuming that it passes with the House's Medicare privatization option in it, the supplimental medication bill will be yet another example of how Bush is privitatizing, rather than socializing, federal government (e.g. Bush's move to put more than 400,000 federal job positions up for competitive bids, Bush's proposal to privatize Social Security, Bush's move to abolish the federal "fair wage" standard for contractors, etc.).
Bush is no Revolutionary. He is an Incrementalist. What he delivers, and deliver he does, is through baby steps.
Sure, he gives the Left's causes more funding. Sure, he spends too much.
But what do we get from such spending?
Well, the Left gets a bigger Educational monstrosity, and the Right gets the ability to fire bad teachers, test teachers, and demand that schools meet minimum standards (e.g. being able to read before you can graduate high school), as well as the ability to finally shut down failing local schools such as those found in inner cities.
Sure, the Left gets money for AIDS, and the Right gets full funding for our military, for our Intelligence Agencies, and for the actual construction of and implementation of our Alaskan ABM system.
An ideologue can point to what Bush gives up in his negotiations and dealings, and make a pretty strong case that Bush is spending us into oblivion and that Bush is helping the Left...but only if said ideologue is willing to deliberately ignore what it is that Bush is winning for us with those concessions.
You want to claim that Bush is spending too much? Fine. You'll get no argument from me on that point.
Just don't pretend that Bush isn't getting anything for all of that spending.
More than 125 federal judges have been approved for Bush. Bush has repealed the dividend double tax, killed the estate tax, and reduced federal income taxes so much that now a family of four earning $40,000 per year only pays a net sum of fourty-five Dollars in federal income taxes.
Private school choice vouchers are now on deck, something that will single-handedly destroy the publci school teachers' unions.
Bush will be signing a BAN on partial birth abortion this fall (already passed in both the House and Senate, needs only to be rectified between the two chambers).
Hussein is out of power in Iraq. The Taliban no longer control Afghanistan. Islamic Madrassah schools are no longer being freely encouraged to train terrorists throughout the Muslim world. Iran and Syria now fear to give overt aid to Palestinian terrorists in Israel.
Frankly, history books will express complete amazement at all that Bush was able to accomplish with a divided Congress and nation.
Was he able to do it all ideally, without yielding anything to the Left? Of course not. This is not an ideal world.
But that fact is hardly Bush's fault.
"I received a letter just before I left office from a man. I don't know why he chose to write it, but I'm glad he did. He wrote that you can go to live in France, but you can't become a Frenchman. You can go to live in Germany or Italy, but you can't become a German, an Italian. He went through Turkey, Greece, Japan and other countries. but he said anyone, from any corner of the world, can come to live in the United States and become an American.""Some may call is mysticism if they will, but I cannot help but feel that there was some divine plan that placed this continent here between the two great oceans to be found by people from any corner of the earth -- people who had an extra ounce of desire for freedom and some extra courage to rise up and lead their families, their relatives, their friends, their nations and come here to eventually make this country."
"The truth of the matter is, if we take this crowd and if we could go through and ask the heritage, the background of every family represented here, we would probably come up with the names of every country on earth, every corner of the world, and every race. Here, is the one spot on earth where we have the brotherhood of man. And maybe as we continue with this proudly, this brotherhood of man made up from people representative of every corner of the earth, maybe one day boundaries all over the earth will disappear as people cross boundaries and find out that, yes, there is a brotherhood of man in every corner."
"Thank you all and God Bless you all."
Ronald Reagan
You haven't a clue Joey.
"Like Americans did."
I will begrudginly admit that if one looks deep enough, one can find redeeming qualities in everyone...even you.
At least you're not claiming ownership for something you had nothing to do with.
Oh, and that's also what Bush did...
Yes it is. After the fact.
Know this Joe Hadenuf...
You do not speak for me, a proud member of "We the People" referenced above. Not now, not ever. You make me ashamed for America.
This would be funny if it weren't so tragic. Privatization means that a private citizen pays into an insurance fund and the federal government never becomes involved. It would not act as a middle-man with tax dollars. It dosen't mean that private citizens pay the federal government tax dollars, and it open bids for private contractors to fulfill them.
If this was privitization the federal government wouldn't be projecting and earmarking $450 billion (but what will turn into trillions of) dollars worth of tax ependitures to fulfill this new obligation.
This is a new program. It's going to be paid for by tax dollars. That is not privatization whether private sector contractors facilitate this or not.
The social security issue has the same problem. Bush will put more than 400,000 federal job positions up for bids. All this means is that 400,000 people will be getting pay cuts and moving off the government payroll. That's not such a bad thing by the way But guess who will still wind up paying their salaries? The US taxpayer will.
Once again, to privitize something you take government out of the equation all together. The way to privatize social security is to slowly increase what people save in their TSAs, while slowly decreasing what they will get from Social Security when they retire. It'g going to take quite a while to accomplish this, but it should begin today.
. Had it not been for the grassroots conservatives who united with the GOP to defeat Gore, and Nader taking the traditional Campus Democrats votes, Bush probably would not have won Florida.
And then find it so offensive to your supposed opposing view
It took every vote from every citizen, including a Herculean effort in the last stand out County, Miami-Dade, by the Cuban-Amrican community to elect Bush.
Seems to be the problem.
So Excuse me if I disagree with you, I would consider the Cuban American community a grassroots conservative group, usually more independent than most. Admittedly you would know better about that and I'm probably stereo typing.
I noticed you only quoted the first sentence in my post, It was grassroots conservatives and leftist extremists who got Bush elected. It's a mistake not to recognize this." so maybe you didnt read the entire thing?
I do believe it is a mistake for Bush not to recognize it was the support of grassroots conservatives united with the GOP that defeated Gore. It is insulting to us and arrogance on his part not to see this.
You have not said anything to change my mindless dribble, but your attitude is typical of what many independant conservatives find so offensive about the Republican Party.
