Rick Leventhal is now reporting that the shooter shot Davis and then a plainclothes policeman killed the shooter.

I'm not sure Davis had a gun and returned fire. They are now calling it a "shootout" between the two men, which would imply that both men were firing. I don't think this is the case.

Leventhal was conjecturing that the perp, if he did walk thru security with Davis, was intent on doing-the-deed in a public venue. That would imply that this was more than just a "killing." The perp wanted it to be "public."
