The Freepers Greatest Threads, and Posts!
Why not spend a few minutes reminiscing about the funniest, most poinient, historic, or heartwarming moments on FREE REPUBLIC. Take the time to scan your bookmarks, search your memory, and scratch your head, Freep a friend for help, but find them, and share them with the greatest forum on the WORLD WIDE WEB.
This is the time to show-off, and post those one-liners and rejoiners that make the posters on the Jim Robinson website, that continues to make history, untangle quamirers, and pop enigmas. Rememer Jim and this site as you go down memory lane, and drop a few bucks on the fundraiser, as a bit of thanks!!
I've got my coffee, and a plastic cover on my keyboard in case I am drinking when the best of the best pop up without a warning... Have at it, you are the best......

Although it was finally deleted in 2000, on july 4th, 1998 I started the ;
"July 4th Vet sign-in sheet". FR discovered our abundance of military veterans.
http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a371787.htm#top Music, movies and probably a little too much private info! But it brought tears to the eyes of giants.
If anyone had saved it, I'd love a copy.

Boy no kidding. I'd forgotten that I'd made that post, but I do remember the sentiment. Thanks Jenny. Sure didn't picutre it starting the way it did.

Absolutely *chilling*:
[AP SCOOP] Space Shuttle Columbia Will Be Visible In San Francisco Area (6AM Pacific)
Oohhhh....
I forgot about that one. I read it a couple of days after we lost the Columbia, and it was completely...well... chilling.

A lot of fun to go and re-read some of our most memorable insanity. We did know how to party on the internet...:-)

Is it too late to ignore the testing, please ignore? I've been wanting to ignore it, but there just hasn't been time.

[AP SCOOP] Space Shuttle Columbia Will Be Visible In San Francisco Area (6AM Pacific) That one got printed in the New York Times, and they didn't even have to make it up!

Shameless plug, but here's the thing I posted that got the greatest number of responses:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/597015/posts Scroll down to the seventh post. I came up with that joke that evening, and decided to post it on Free Republic. Note that I only got one response on this thread. But then Instapundit picked it up, and it spread to over 200 websites. The Wall Street Journal mentioned it, and Robin Williams used it his comedy routine.
So it is one of a number of jokes that is of freeper origin.

Thanks for posting. Unfortunately, that thread is merely a teeny, tiny sliver of the hilarity found on the original "Pool Poopy" threads.
The famous original "Pool Poopy" thread started on July 3, 1998. Within a very short time thread #3 started.
The Freeper humor was so outstanding and original that portions of the comments were aired on several talk shows.

The funniest, most creative thread I've ever been a part of, the FR interactive novel about Hillary's college days:
