Publisher Lied About Hillary Book Sales
June 16, 2003
Here are some facts to smash the myths on Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's new book: There were not a million printed. There were not 200,000 sold on the first day. There was not a "leak" to the Associated Press of the book's content. Hillary's publisher, Simon & Schuster, sent the data on Bill and Monica to AP. The American Prowler reports all of this.
More: Ann Coulter wrote a great column about this guy named Packer who made a big show of rushing to buy the book at midnight when it went on sale. He's quoted all over the place as a "man on the street." The truth? He's one of Hillary's campaign aides! Read this column, because it's truly amazing. The whole thing was staged. There weren't any real life book fans out there panting to get Hillary's book. This Packer guy was just part of the campaign. The Clintons corrupt everyone they touch, and that's been proven with this corruption of Simon & Schuster.
The Prowler quotes internal memos at the publisher: "Part of the plan to generate buzz on the book was the leaking of some of the most sensational tidbits that had been pulled together by three ghost writers for the former first lady." That was just an old trick to boost sales. You could run these sorts of scams 15 or 20 years ago before the new media, but not anymore. Not with us around.

I am deeply troubled, also. I was deeply troubled when Hillary's brother (the big fat one) tried to sell pardons as The Bent One was leaving the bordello at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

at Amazon they have stopped trying to hype it as no. 3 nationwide while the very highest it appears in ANY state is #13. Amazon's "circles of interest" feature is really sophisticated. Instead of states, I went to educational institutions, then Massachusetts, and then Wellesley College, Her Heinous' alma mater.
Her book isn't even in the top 20 at Wellesley. Heh heh.

Someone should publish a counter book to Hillary's called Lying Hillbilly and use that as the cover (with a "3-D" flicker cover). Imagine the displays in the stores (they could also sell upset stomach pills at the front counter).

If it was *really* a top seller (rather than fudged)...
Amazon.com wouldn't be listing it at 30% off ALREADY.
Now they are just trying to recoup costs of the copies they have.

Apparently the New York Times has quoted Greg Packer NUMEROUS TIMES as some sort of average "man in the street." Since the same publicity hungry person is quoted over and over again, how can he be described as just some "man in the street." Packer is a publicity hound. Yet another blow to the credibility of the New York Times.

Will she be giving a copy of her book to all married couples when she's elected Chancellor?

It doesn't bother you when he makes an error such as this? I am not a Rush fan nor a Rush basher. During the early Clinton years his show kept me from losing my mind, and I am grateful for his program being available.
However, this is a MISTAKE. Hopefully he will correct it. The point is that when he makes a mistake like this, especially one which several people on this thread immediately noticed, it causes him to lose credibility.
Why should I trust his statistics on the budget, for example, when I see an error such as this?
To: Hildy
I wouldn't say that the Packer incident was "staged." He just happens to be the first on line to all events. That doesn't mean the NYTimes put him there. Really? How does one happen to be first on line at the St. Patrick's Day Parade, or the Thanksgiving Parade or the Labor Day Parade? How are you first on line for New Year's Eve celebrations in Times Square? Or for Yankees, Mets, or Jets games?
You don't. Something underhanded is happening with the Packer interviews.

The answer to your question was in one of the articles. He seeks out the reporters and gives them quotes. He makes a point of dressing in flamboyant costumes for such occasions as New Year's Eve.
Probably all the reporters know him and know he will give them a quote. It is laziness and irresponsibility on the part of the press, as well as contempt for their readers in that they think no one will remember or notice.

I'll bet that in a few weeks, the mainstream media won't be reporting the book has bombed
You are so right about that! Before the month is out the whole thing will have become an "un-story".

Actually, they should publish a book called "Why Bill Cheats" and use that for the cover.
