G Gordon Liddy Speaking in Tunica, Mississippi - March 29th at The Grand Casino
Posted on 03/28/2003 6:55:31 PM PST by dmcg_98
One of the leading European newspapers, Le Matin, of Paris, describes G. Gordon Liddy as "a man of fantastic intelligence and complexity." Educated privately by Benedictines and Jesuits, Mr. Liddy earned a B.S. degree from Fordham University and an Ll.D. from the Fordham Law School, graduating as a member of The Law Review. After two years service as an Army artillery officer during the Korean War, Mr. Liddy entered the FBI as a Special Agent, rapidly earned multiple commendations from the late J. Edgar Hoover and, at age 29, became the youngest Bureau Supervisor at FBI national headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he served during the Kennedy administration.
Mr. Liddy resigned from the FBI in 1962 to practice international law in Manhattan. Thereafter he served as a prosecutor, ran unsuccessfully for Congress from the 28th district of New York, then in 1968, ran the presidential campaign of Richard Nixon in that district.
In the Nixon administration, Mr. Liddy served first as Special Assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury; was then appointed Enforcement Legislative Counsel, authored the Explosives Control Act and, in 1971 was sent to the White House as Staff Assistant to the President of the United States.
At the White House, Mr. Liddy had oversight responsibility for Treasury policy on firearms and explosives and authored the memorandum that led to the creation of the Drug Enforcement Administration. Subsequently he was assigned additional special duties as a member of the top secret White House Special Investigations Group. Mr. Liddy resigned his White House post to accept the positions of General Counsel of the 1972 Republican presidential campaign and the campaign finance committee, with additional duties as campaign political intelligence director. The rest is history.
For his role in Watergate, and for refusing steadfastly to implicate others, Mr. Liddy was sentenced to over twenty years in prison. He served nearly five years, many in maximum security, including 106 days of solitary confinement, before his release by President Carter "in the interests of justice".
Today, Mr. Liddy is the host of THE G. GORDON LIDDY SHOW, a radio program syndicated in 170 markets; is the author of three best-sellers and numerous magazine articles, and is an actor in motion pictures and television, currently a co-star of "18 Wheels of Justice" a weekly television series on The National Network. He was awarded his paratrooper wings after training in Israel and jumping with the elite IDF parachute regiment; is a member of the Honor Legion of the Police Department of the City of New York and, according to The Wall Street Journal, is "one of the most sought after speakers in the nation."

You cannot listen to him very often, then. I first gave him a listen about six years ago. I thought he was just kind of weird, and then I heard him argue on two different occasions, once with a woman and once with a man, who were complaining about his lack of morals.
He responded that he didn't have to make any excuses for his views on sexual freedom, that he is a virile man and has a taste for the ladies, etc. "Men are evolved to spread their seed," and that kind of immoral cr*p.
From that point on I have never listened to him if I could help it.

I listened to Liddy for 2 hours tonight. He was extremely respectful of his wife and their 45 years together. He also assumed responsibility for any of the small squabbles they may have ... if you don't like him fine.
I wasn't a great fan before nor after the speech. It is difficult to walk away not realizing what a worldly and well rounded base of knowledge he has attained.
Lastly, trying to form others opinions through untruths is really pretty pathetic.

What untruths? He said what he said. He is a womanizer and is proud of it. No matter how painful it is to his wife and family.

"And his views on many things, particularly his wife, may raise some eyebrows. They certainly raised mine. But he is also loyal, courageous, and intelligent. Read his book and decide for yourself what you think of Mr. Liddy. "
From a review of his book "Will."
Now claim he did not write his own autobiography.

OK, point granted. I have been listening to Mr. Liddy for only two years now. However, I can say that during those two years I have not heard him say anything that would indicate he is a womanizer. I will not argue with your personal experience. The only thing I would say is that he certainly has changed insofar as that he has never mentioned anything of this nature during the time I have been listening
As an aside, all the conservative talk show hosts have the same basic messages. What I like about G. Gordon is that he is polite with those with whom he does not agree. That is a rare thing among the species. He also seems to have an encyclopedia knowledge of history and the law.

Nobody was more depressed than I when I heard that side of Liddy. I agree with 99.9% of what he says.
However, his total disregard for his wedding vows made me sick.
On a number of his shows he commented about the length of his "you know." Telling how different ladies find him unconfortable. Recent different ladies.
This is on the radio. How do you think his wife felt?
On one occasion, when he was defending his "prowless" to a caller, he mentioned that his daughter was upset with him over this. He just said he respectfully disagreed with her and she should run her life not his.
I have no respect for him now.

What I like about G. Gordon is that he is polite with those with whom he does not agree. That is a rare thing among the species.Well, I'll agree with that insofar as it goes. I love Rush, but he is HORRIBLE as soon as he gets on the air with a detractor. He splutters, he stumbles, and he falls flat. I don't know what that is.
There is one local host here in Houston who also handles "the opposition" with grace, and I think it is effective.
He also seems to have an encyclopedia knowledge of history and the law.
Oh, I dunno. He talks a good game, but I can bluff my way through in situations like that as well.
As I say: To me, conservatism without a moral underpinning is just selfishness without the hypocrisy of the Left.
