SUPPORT OUR TROOPS - Patriots Rally for America IV - Saturday, March 1, 2003, Washington, D.C.
DC Chapter of Free Republic ^ | February 18, 2003 | Angelwood and Kristinn

Posted on 02/18/2003 8:35:34 PM PST by Angelwood

This is important. Drop what you’re doing. Pack the car, get on a plane, a train, a bus or start walking. Our troops need your support right now! They’re laying it on the line for us overseas and all they are seeing in the media is hundreds of thousands of anti-war/anti-American demonstrators marching in our streets.

As evidenced by this article Anti-war Protests Anger U.S. Troops Inside Kuwait those demonstrations are starting to affect morale. You can do something about that, but it will take time, effort and sacrifice -- a modest sacrifice compared to our men and women in uniform waiting for the the word to take out Saddam and his tyrannical terrorist regime.

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic urges all FReepers and lurkers in good standing, as well as their friends and families, veterans and their friends and families and all others who want to stand up for America and support our troops to join us in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, March 1, 2003 for the Patriots Rally for America IV from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m at the outdoor Sylvan Theater on the grounds of the Washington Monument.

As the United States prepares to take the next step in the war on terrorism with probable action in Iraq, it is imperative that we get out and show support for our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and all that’s good about America.

Our troops are there to give their lives if necessary in order to prevent another 9-11 from happening to us. Now more than ever, they need to see your support back home. Please don’t let them down.

We are asking you to bring large American and Gadsden flags. Also, signs bearing messages supporting America, our troops, our Commander-in-Chief and the war on terrorism.

That same day, anti-American leftists will be holding an "anti-war" rally and march in D.C. The "anti-war" rally, organized by IAC-A.N.S.W.E.R. , a front group for the communist World Workers Party, will be held on the Mall near the Capitol Building between 3rd Street and 7th Street, N.W. The organizers have permitted other sites as staging areas for many in their group to assemble and then march to the main event. Some of these staging areas include: Constitution Gardens by the Vietnam War Memorial, the Northeast quadrant of the Washington Monument, and Freedom Plaza at 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.

Another group has plans to assemble in the DuPont Circle area and march to Constitution Avenue, N.W. between 17th and 23rd Streets.

We do not expect any trouble from those groups. Law enforcement officers will be everywhere to keep the peace and ensure that everyone’s rights are respected.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for demonstrating will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no racism, no profanity, no threats, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

When: Saturday, March 1, 2003 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., rain or shine.

Where: The Sylvan Theater, located on the south side of the Washington Monument grounds at Independence Avenue and 15th Street, S.W.

WOW! Nice (and colorful) collection of signs for Saturday.

We're working hard on the DC end to make this rally a big success, and look forward to seeing you and your signs on Saturday. I'll have my camera ready!

Fantastic BillF !! While I was working today, you guys have been busy. Now I gotta get into gear around here and hit some more emails to non-hostile radio stations.

I will be going to MCI Center with FTH on Thursday evening, and have another DC rally assignment tentatively set for Wednesday afternoon with a Loosianna friend.

We'll miss you, Fred. But don't let it stop you from finding a rally (or making your own one-man rally) in your neck of the woods.

You know, if you stand out on a busy streetcorner with a "Honk if you support our troops and President Bush" sign, you will quickly be joined by others. And I for one will be anxious to read your after-action report.

Just got back from handing out flyers after the hockey game at the MCI Center. The most common reaction to a 'support our troops' rally was shock--pleased, but shocked.

Even though we misjudged when the game would let out, we still handed out about one hundred flyers. Time allowing, I think we'll hit every game this week.

Tonight I heard the song you were talking about. It's sung by Darryl Worley, and is titled "Have they forgotten?"

I went looking for the CD tonight; no luck.

I hope you can find the CD for that song in time for the rally. We need lots of patriotic music.

We have a B I G stage and will need lots of flags on stands to place behind the speaker's podium. If anyone coming to the Patriots Rally in DC has a flag they can bring, we would appreciate it.

Thanks for all the experience I have gained from each of you.

Clear Channel Communications has been convinced to sponsor a rally here in Melbourne Florida this Saturday. Emails to the Women's Republican Club and County Chairman of the Republican Party have been forwarded to all members. Patrick Air Force Base has notices up and street signs are being painted. I have recruited some "Letters to the Editor".

The free Radio publicity is almost hourly! WMMBAM.com has details posted and will be updating.

I am planning a sign-in table for Freepers and have a growing "ping" list. I will plan for a local buffet restaurant to give us their private room after the rally. I hope LukeFreeman will post the after action report and I will be waiting for your usual great report too.

Any suggestions?
What have I forgotten?

I wanted to be with you!! Couldn't do it, so had to start pushing for a Rally here too! Response has been great...now if they just attend!

I am getting a greater respect for all the signs you have made and saved for future use!

I found some homeschoolers to help with that too.

What have I forgotten?

Um, to come up to DC and do the same thing here?

Just kidding, 3D-JOY. My goodness, when you get an idea you really run with it! Can you bottle some of your excess energy and send it up to me, please?

BTW, congratulations! It sounds like you're ready for Saturday down there. Fantastic!
