PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - As numbers grow, has COVID fatigue turned into COVID apathy?

We are in a new wave of COVID and there is a growing trend away from testing which experts have said is disturbing.

This week, the top doctors in all our local healthcare institutions came out with a joint statement warning against "COVID complacency."

In their offices and emergency rooms, they're seeing it.

"This is a real thing," said UPMC Chief Medical Officer Dr. Don Yealy. "We see that the biggest threat now with COVID and soon to be with flu is what we call 'presenteeism' that is people coming to work or to school, not taking precautions and infecting others."

He said that this is bigger than the self.

It’s just another Friggin seasonal virus like influenza for most Americans. The only people who obsess about COVID and its theater are germaphobes, soy boys, and the type of folks who are just as likely to die of the flu and pnemonia. Only the last group is justified in their fears. The other two should be ignored or mocked.

This is what happens when “medical experts” lose their credibility to dispense medical advice (not what they do and the miracles they perform, but rather the advice they spit out) as a result of lying to their patients (e.g., masks prevent the spread of a respiratory virus; if you wear a mask you’re safe) to identify one major lie.

I posted this previously when case and fatalities were rising in the fall. We need to guard against autumnal hysteria and vernal cheering, because there is likely a SEASONAL DIMENSION to cases and fatalities, and not necessarily a "surge" or a "new strain of the virus" or the results of triple-masking, vaccines, or statist policies.

The majority of deaths in most countries can be attributed to causes that feature a distinct seasonal pattern. The figure depicts the relative monthly frequencies of nine selected causes of death in the United States for women and men combined for the years 1959–2014. The reported number of counts in parentheses in the title of each panel is the actual number of deaths.

Viruses gonna virus. Even non-viruses gonna non-virus. Anyone who promotes eradication as a policy goal is either a fool or a statist (or both). It's like the war on drugs...liberty is destroyed, lives are lost, and Leviathan grows.

A very likely reality, is that this bug will be with us forever - like influenza, it'll be a highly contagious but still fatal (maybe a case fatality rate of about 0.2%, equal to that for influenza) and seasonal annoyance. When faced with this reality, we should follow the policy prescriptions of a wise FReeper: Quarantine the sick. Protect the vulnerable. Free everyone else.
