GREENSBORO, N.C. — National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Rick Scott (Fla.) says Republicans will likely control 52 Senate seats next year and have a pathway to a 55-seat majority, given how recent polls show GOP candidates picking up momentum.
Scott is voicing a more confident view of the Nov. 8 midterm elections than Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has predicted the battle for the Senate will be “really close either way” and that whatever party wins is likely to control a very narrow majority.

60 are needed.
He’s going to jinx it.
They’ll still screw it up. The GOP doesn’t want to govern, they want to be the permanent opposition party so they have grounds to rant and raise money on the premise of fixing the dems never ending screw-ups. They have no intention of fixing anything, just using the state of the country to rake in more money. The perfect evidence is 2016 where the voters gave them the presidency, house, and senate after they all ran on repealing the disastrous Obamacare yet they refused to do it. The image of McCain standing there with his idiotic thumbs down antic will be forever burned in my mind as a reminder of republican treachery.
Two months ago McConnell said we’re losing seats.
Like him or not there is strategy to this. The motive can be to get donations upped, motivate volunteers, and get everyone into a high energy mode.
I can’t read his mind but to act like we had it in the bag two months ago would have probably been ill advised.
Talk’s cheap. We’ll see.
Well we won’t know how the people voted until a week or more after the election. Gotta get a true tally.
He’s doing his best. Do you think he wants to be in charge, while America circles the drain?
If Republicans win, Mitch will want Schumer’s approval for everything.
Idiot trying to get voters to stay home.

51 can control the agenda and the committees.
If its by design its not a screwup
Uniparty is still uniparty
Rank and file aren’t necessarily, “leadership” however, is
Some of you people are truly odd and perplexing. I have to think some of you are bots.
That would be sweet....but...
Yes. Well said. My thoughts exactly. They may win the majority but really they still have a minority brain. They need to help those liberals push their agenda more to the left. They don’t have to help much more because it is going off the cliff soon. Rinos so happy because of their good deed and will be patted on their head for a job well done.
crow fits you....screeching nothings....
He is backing Lisa Murkowski. Day after the election I’m calling his office and telling him to resign... regardless of the outcome.
You hit it on the head.
If all Scott mentions come home that’s 57 seats, with WA, CT and CO pickups being the longest shot of them. Plus of the 4 seats to hold 3 were open seats from retiring RINOs with 2 conservatives and Oz as replacements. And we may hold AK while ditching the worst RINO. Of the 7 theoretical pickups CO would be the most RINO, the only one running an anti-Trump campaign. The caucus should improve beyond the raw numbers. Wish we had KY governor, but Rats stole that so we can’t push Mitch to retire early.
