Putin Misled by 'Total Lies' Leading to Failures in Ukraine: Ex-Commander
Newsweek ^ | 10.6.2022 | Katherine Fung

Posted on 10/06/2022 3:15:53 PM PDT by libh8er

Aformer Russian commander said that the reason Moscow has seen a series of military failures in Ukraine is because Russian President Vladimir Putin has been misled by lies that have impaired his decision-making on the battlefield.

"I don't think our Supreme [would] have made [inappropriate] decisions if he was retrieving accurate information about the real circumstances. The system of total lies brought us to this situation," Andrey Gurulyov, former deputy commander of Russia's southern military district, told television presenter and propagandist Vladimir Solovyov on Russian state media.

The latest setbacks Putin has suffered due to a successful counteroffensive from Ukrainian forces have spurred a new phase of the war. In the last two weeks, the Kremlin leader has annexed four territories in Ukraine, as well as expanded Russia's war efforts by mobilizing up to 300,000 Russians. Gurulyov said that while "all sorts of people are getting deferments" to keep Russia's economy running, "let's openly say this: most likely, a time will come when more people get mobilized."

"Our industry will keep working, thank God. We need to supply those who are battling right now, plus those who will be mobilized and join the ranks later," he said.

"We should be prepared. This won't end fast and easy. You can't turn the tide in this situation in one day," Gurulyov added.

He’s probably being told things he doesn’t want to hear, and ignoring them.

That is not all that uncommon with dictators.

*Yawn*

That bacon on my sandwich was tasty.

What was really interesting were all of the “lies” detailed in the article, what the “truth” was, and how they related to decisions made.

Oh wait. Never mind. Just another ‘the walls are closing in’ piece.

What if the objective was to take those four territories and deplete Ukraine of the manpower to take them back?

I don’t think Putin ever wanted to capture or destroy all of Ukraine.

I think he wanted those four territories and he wanted them secure from counterattack.

That leads us to Biden’s objectives in this war.

Does anybody know?

Everyone in Russia blaming someone else in Russia for the Russian military failures - from Putin on down, is making excuses for the fact that the entire Russian political and miliary leadership is to blame, beginning with Putin for having demanded the miliary intiate the war against Ukriane, and including the entire military leadership for being mere yes men to and for the plutocrat Putin, while the state of Russian miliary preparedness for basic warfare declined. Putin’s corruption affected all of the Russian state.

I’m pretty sure he knows how the Ukrainian’s feel, the Russian losses and all that. This is most likely looking for a scapegoat to blame the losses on. For public consumption. I’m also pretty sure he or his replacement isn’t walking away. I hope I’m wrong but I expect this to continue about as long as it takes Russia to win what they want.

Psst ... all your labor is headed either to the meat grinder battle front, or across the border to safety from your madness. Who’s going to work in your factories?

“I’m pretty sure he knows how the Ukrainian’s feel, the Russian losses and all that.”

I’m not so sure. I think he was convinced that the Ukrainians would welcome him as a liberator (and I’m not just talking about the eastern separatists). I think he’s now in denial, and is simply lashing out at those who are not bringing him happy tidings. Just look at all his “confidantes” that are dying off in droves under odd circumstances. I think rather than accept bad news, and adjust accordingly, he sees it more as a betrayal; a personal affront.

I see him losing control.

Not attacking you bc your comments are rather common.

Mind reading [so and so did this bc he’s thinking that] is utter nonsense. Any ‘mind-set’ can be characterized from the outside to fit your predetermined narrative. Doing so with someone like Putin, who rarely makes comments outside official statements, is just mental masturbation. It’s pointless.

Luckily for everyone, the Poles and etc Eastern Euros are the actual strong horse. They are holding up Ukraine more than anyone else. They keep the supplies flowing.

I’m simply comparing him to other historical tyrants and how they reacted under similar circumstances. You can call that “mental masturbation” if you want. But, we can only opine based upon what we’ve seen and observed.

And I don’t have a “predetermined narrative” when it comes to Putin; though I suspect you may, given that you brought that up.

I see in Putin a typical dictator.

PUTIN is micro-managing the battlefield?

Not his generals?

So he IS just like Hitler!

https://sonar21.com/more-military-and-economic-considerations-in-ukraine/

It appears to me that Russia is baiting Ukraine to take territory and then face the task of trying to take a city Russia holds, such as Kherson. If Ukaine wishes to oust Russia from Kherson it will have to mass forces necessary to conduct the block to block fighting that Russia did when it captured Mariupol. Remember that?

Even if this is not a Russian plan (i.e., baiting the Ukrainians) the outcome will be the same. Ukraine will have to conduct a frontal assault on the city of Kherson and, in order to do this, will have to mass troops and equipment that will be easy targets for Russian artillery, missiles and bombs. Ukraine has no military power to counter what Russia can unleash. So, if your panties are in a knot over “Russia losing territory”, I suggest you take a nap on the fainting couch and calm down.

Russia, for its part, is in the process of incorporating the Donetsk and Luhansk militias into Russia command structure. Why? This is essential in order to conduct coordinated maneuver warfare, which is what Russia is expected to unleash once its forces are properly manned and in position.

Important to remember that all of the military action on the ground in Ukraine will be a sideshow compared to the economic warfare that will wrack Europe. The United States and Europe got a big bucket of cold water poured over their heads today with OPEC+’s announcement that they will cut production by two million barrels of oil. No matter how much lipstick Biden and Blinken try to put on this pig, OPEC+’s message to the west is clear–fuck off! If foreigners really believed that Russia was getting its ass handed to it, do you think the OPEC nations would stick their neck out and adopt a policy that helps Russia? I don’t.

I’m starting to wonder if these pro Ukraine Freepers were the smart ones all along. They knew supporting a corrupt government that would give USA absolutely in return could result in devastating gas prices at home, thus causing Democrat losses in November...a good thing, right?

Looks to me as though there’s a split between Putin loyalists in the military like this guy who are attempting to blame the generals while the generals and Russian mil-bloggers are blaming Putin.
