Mainstream Republican voters, even if they don’t especially love Trump, embrace the program of the new GOP: no new wars, law and order, an end to Wokeness in public schools, and sensible pro-family policies that don’t include intentional immiseration of the middle class through exponentially inflated energy costs.

A: Because those politicians have figured out how to profit from wars and dividing the country to remove focus on their insider deals.
“Neoconservative” is a term coined by the socialist Michael Harrington to describe leftists who had come to have doubts about the Great Society, and who supported the war in Vietnam.
In other words, they’re still leftists, but they think they have the recipe for a “better welfare state”. And they haven’t seen a war that they didn’t love.
