That said, Why did Cheney even bother running for re-election, in a state that voted more heavily for Trump than any other, twice? What is characterised in the press as a “split” in the Republican Party — between Trump’s supporters on one hand, and conventional Republicans on the other — in fact is not a schism or factional matter at all. It more closely resembles an ice floe upon which the decrepit and useless remnant of the party has been set adrift.
The neoconservatives who proudly announced that they would vote for Biden in 2020 because they put “country over party”, now await smugly in their splendid palace of principle for the rest of the Republicans, having come to their senses, to slink shamefully back, asking for guidance. But they wait in vain. Mainstream Republican voters, even if they don’t especially love Trump, embrace the program of the new GOP: no new wars, law and order, an end to Wokeness in public schools, and sensible pro-family policies that don’t include intentional immiseration of the middle class through exponentially inflated energy costs.
Broken down to fundamentals, all we want is an end to the insanity. And we’re not going to get one.
Liz Cheney used Dick Cheney’s political capitol to get into Congress.
Now I used to like VP Cheney. That said, he used up my goodwill on his worthless Democrat daughter.
(That said, Why did Cheney even bother running for re-election, in a state that voted more heavily for Trump than any other, twice?)
Because the irrationality of TDS is almost incurable?
Cheney has George Conway’s and The Lincoln Project support.
Just think, if Trump had not come along our choice would have been Hillary or Jeb. So anyone who doesn’t especially like Trump needs to think about that and adjust their priorities.
Because she’s a grifter?
The Cheney we thought we knew never existed.
I’ve come to realize that I never liked Cheney nor Bush
Thank you. I’m realizing I’m there too.
Neoconservatism=Fakeservatism
The neoconservatives were “all the rage” when the war on terror was at its peak.
Now that the “kill the raghead” days are over they’ve moved on to other targets.
Target # 1) President Trump & his supporters.
Target # 2) Defeating & Splitting up Russia into little political/economic units.
They are stupid & arrogant people that will fail at both objectives.
It amazing that we have heard nothing from Geo. Bush!!!
He’s gone mute again, just like during Obama’s reign.
Great post.
Reading this, Watching Gutfield and Carlson, listening to Some of the young broadcasters, watching the Latino vote morphing, there is a new groundswell of Conservative strength arising. Not traditional like some of us older ones may want to have characterized in the way we see things but but still swords swinging under the banner of freedom and countering the BS foisted upon Americans by the old guard Repubs, crony capitalists, BS climate and racial money schemes, victim hood in general and useless wars trying to pretend to help others.
Whatever this new party is, the tent is larger than I could have anticipated and better than the alternative progressives are trying to shove down our throats.
Neocons never saw a war they couldn’t monetize.
I like when SNL can be cutting edge both ways.
There is humor in seeing your own side lampooned fairly, as
long as the other side is also.
He donated to her cause I’m sure.
