The White House claims it only learned of the FBI’s stunning raid on former President Trump’s home in Florida on Twitter, at the same time the media did, according to multiple reports.
As improbable as it may seem that the Department of Justice would execute a search warrant on a former president and political opponent of the administration without Biden’s knowledge, that’s what New York Times reporter Jonathan Martin tweeted Monday night. Trump was not home during the raid at the mansion known as Mar-a-Lago.
“Senior White House officials found out about the FBI’s Mar a Lago raid on Twitter, had no notice, per source familiar,” Martin tweeted.
CBS News reporter Ed O’Keefe said a top Biden official told him the same thing.
“No advance knowledge. Some learned from old media some from social media,” O’Keefe quoted a senior administration official when asked about the raid.
The dramatic raid was initially announced by Trump himself, in a lengthy statement decrying what he characterized as a political move.
“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” Trump wrote. “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.”
Other conservatives, including many not aligned with the 45th president, said the raid sets a dangerous precedent.
The search was reportedly for material that Trump brought with him to Mar-a-Lago after he left the White House in 2021, according to reports. Trump allegedly delayed returning more than a dozen boxes of material to the National Archives which included documents that were reportedly marked as classified.
Republican strategist Scott Jennings, on a CNN panel hours after the raid, said the political implications of Biden’s Justice Department raiding his predecessor cannot be ignored.
“I mean, they’ve raided the guy’s house,” said Jennings. “There’s no reconciliation here when you raid somebody’s house. And so because of the political implications of that, I’m curious to know about what did the White House know?”
David Axelrod, former top adviser to President Obama, said Attorney General Merrick Garland has gone beyond the point of no return, at least politically.
“He has crossed a rubicon here — if you are going to prosecute a former President of the United States, you’d better be pretty darn sure that you have an open-and-shut case,” Axelrod said.
Just a odd question...but if Hunter was found to be in some illegal trouble, with money going to his dad...would they raid the White House?
Apparently
I guess Biden isn't in charge then and they could care less about riding high, they won't allow him to run again.
I'd guess they are still in the FBI
Exactly. I know Biden is too gaga to consciously approve anything, but he hates Trump and anything presented to him by Obama or Nancy that would attack Trump would get his shaky signature.
“We are supposed to believe, that Biden had no knowledge of any of this????”
LOL! Well, it’s not difficult to believe, let’s just say that.
It implies two things (for starters) to me: A) ChoMoeJoe has no control over anything and is the last person in the loop (again, not hard to believe) and B) the FBI has grown more than used to acting on its own. Speculation has been rife for many a year that the FBI has gone rogue.
Another amusing thing is that Trumpy was not home when the raid took place. They’re rogue, but they’re not all that excited about facing him. Heh.
These guys are serious about bringing collectivism to America. In their minds, nothing is going to stop them.
That means we have to stop them. I feel really bad for folks like Mr K (not the one on this forum) who still, after everything, have managed to keep their good-paying jobs that they enjoy. (Mr K has had his same job for more than 10 years now and he still loves it. If it wasn’t for inflation, we would be rolling in $ right now, too.) The folks who have stable homes and happy families, and whose communities are still intact. I feel really bad for those folks.
But then there are the folks like me, who have nothing in particular to lose. 😉 They can’t lock us all up and raiding our ramshackle homes is a waste of time. They COULD take our guns if we hadn’t lost them in that darned boating accident last summer.
Someone above his mental grade...did this.
Jill B: We’re sorry but the President is going to be a tad late for the press conference! He got a little overwhelmed this morning when his arm got stuck in the lining of his jacket.
of course they do.........
Their room-temperature IQ followers do..................
Yep.....................
Don’t be fooled by this for a second. They are going to prosecute Trump with laws that have never been used to prosecute any person, much less a president.
The game is up. At least half the country knows they are crooks.
When the president made millions with a son who was smoking a crack pipe, parading nude in front of his underage niece, and nothing happens and the president tells you his son is a “great guy” and he didn’t know he flew on Air Force 2 with him to do business in China - the average person realizes now what’s going on.
Plus THAT was Russian misinformation but Trump’s a crook for keeping too many records - they don’t even pass the laugh test anymore.
And now even more people realize that they are stealing the elections.
I hope Republicans compare this to illegally relocating millions of illegals all over the country.
How many thousands of crimes is Biden committing every day? But those crimes are ok.
Bull***t.
If biden knew and approved, then he is a fascist thug, unworthy of public office.
If biden didn’t know, then he is a puppet being controlled by forces outside of the white house.
And on the anniversary of Nixon’s resignation.
That's what happens when a president has dementia.
He's often blindsided by his own decisions and he's always meeting new people (like his wife and family members).
If true this just proves that no one is driving the car
Actually it may be correct. The one who knew about it was the one pulling the dummies strings.
