Mysterious Georgia Guidestones brought down after heavy damage from explosion (all gone now)

Following extensive damage from an apparent explosive device, the mysterious Georgia Guidestones have been brought down. The structure was damaged early Wednesday morning in an apparent act of vandalism.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation stated at noon that around 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning, "unknown individuals" detonated an explosive device that destroyed a "large portion" of the mysterious structure.

A video taken by SKYFOX showed that one of the four pillars of the structure had been completely destroyed, damaging the granite slab it was supporting.

The preliminary information indicates that unknown individuals detonated an explosive device at around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6th.

By 5:16 p.m., an image shared on Twitter by journalist Myra Ruiz showed the remnants of the Guidestones torn down by a construction crew. The reason for the toppling of the remaining three monoliths is not yet clear.

The Guidestones had cameras to record vandalism because of earlier defacing of the structure. If there is any useful images, the perps will be caught.

Even with its Utopian message, it attempts to communicate universal aspirations even though people like me would not go along with all of them:

There is a light in the upper middle-right of the video, it looks like a street light. But then it flashes brightly just as the monument blew up. It’s almost like someone fired a bazooka at it or maybe an RPG.

It’s really noticeable if you go frame by frame.

I saw it said that lightening can hit stone and explode it if it contains moisture.

The guidestones were granite. I don't think granite absorbs moisture.

So video shows the explosion and a car speeding away, but doesn’t show anyone placing explosives at the stones? Did the cameras fail at that one important moment?

Yes. It's possible from what little we can see from the truncated video, that the car was unrelated. There are many cars that look more or less like that one. I don't know which make and model it was, but there was that ridge in the middle of the roof of it in the video. Looked like a late model.

I don't think it was lightning. In regards to the flash reflection, light travels faster than debris. The flash was caused by the detonation of whatever device was used.
