In defending House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s pro-abortion stances, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough suggested Tuesday that Jesus Christ was not against abortion.
The MSNBC host accused pro-life activists of “dragging the politics of abortion up into the altar of the church,” noting that the Southern Baptist Church, to which he says he belongs, was “effectively pro-choice until 1980.”
“This wasn’t about Jesus. It was about politics. That was the rise of the moral majority in 1980, bringing abortion politics into the pews of Republican-leaning churches,” he said.
Scarborough then claimed that Jesus “never once mentioned” abortion in the gospels, though most religions holds that abortion is the killing of an unborn child and that an abortion is against the fifth commandment: “Thou shalt not kill.”
“Now, the Catholic Church, mind you, has focused on abortion a bit longer,” he said. “But how disconcerting that religious leaders in that church would deny communion to faithful members of their congregation over a political issue that Jesus never once mentioned in the gospels, despite the fact that abortion was both a political and philosophical issue in ancient Greece and in Rome and when Jesus was alive.”
The MSNBC host emphasized that “Jesus did address most other things that touch our lives.”
“He told his disciples in Matthew 25 that we would be welcomed into the kingdom of heaven if we gave water to the thirsty, fed the hungry, clothed the poor, and brought hope to the hopeless,” Scarborough insisted. “We were to lead with forgiveness and love.”

“ It involves a millstone and a long descent into a watery abyss.”
And actually, what he said was that millstone and abyss was a far better thing for them than what they will get…
However, to be fair it does not say “Thou shalt not head stop your intern to death and hire a fixer ME to cover it up”.
So, I guess Joe gets a pass.
Did Jesus ever say anything about finding dead interns in politicians offices?
He didn’t?
Hmmm, it must be permissible then??
Who’d a thunk it???
Neither does the Constitution, despite the claims of liberals.
It was a very child-wanting world.
Abortion was probably unthinkable to most people, and not much to speak of.
you beat me to it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jesus was about LOVE, Joe.
Abortion is HATE, Joe!
Capisch?
Jesus never mentioned pedophilia either, does that mean its okay? This guys a moron.
Probably because it wasn’t practiced? But, thou shalt not kill pretty much covers abortion.
He did mention people like Joe Scarborough though. Straight to the bottom of the ocean with a millstone strapped around their neck as I recall.
One of the times they tried to trick Jesus into saying the wrong thing prompted a reply to the effect of: “You have the laws of Moses - what’s wrong with them? Follow them!” (and then added a commandment about love).
One of the commandments has to do with murder. But who cares what this b00b thinks?
Joey, Joey, Joey....you might want to spend a little time in the Word.
He knew you in the womb...before you were born.
A millstone around the neck and cast into the sea of anyone that would hurt one of these little ones.
Thou shalt not kill
...just to point out a few.
No but His Father did:
Thou shalt not kill.
From Luke, Chapter 1, “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!”
He never said not to kill your female staff either so Joe’s okay there.
joe proves it - once an ass always an ass......
Exactly.
Jesus never once mentioned I shouldn't stick my tongue into a light socket either. Does that mean its ok to do so?
“Pelosi is not a ‘faithful member’ of the Catholic Church. She’s in open and unrepentant defiance.”
Fully agree but we live in a “post-truth” time. There’s no such thing as objective righteousness under the zeitgeist of now. You are righteous if you think you are righteous and no once has the right to gainsay that. Nancy is preparing herself for sainthood. /s
