Kids were fighting in school. Dads began patrolling campus, and the violence stopped.

After 23 students were arrested in the span of three days for fighting at a Louisiana high school last month, Michael La’Fitte II’s 16-year-old daughter was scared to go to school.

“My kid was visibly shaken,” said La’Fitte, 40. “Her classmates felt the same way.”

He reached out to other parents of students at Southwood High School in Shreveport, La., and organized an urgent meeting on a Sunday afternoon “to see what we could do to mitigate the issues on campus,” he said.

The parents hatched a plan.

A group of five fathers came up with a concept called “Dads on Duty.” Their idea was to take shifts patrolling the campus every weekday “as community leaders and liaisons,” La’Fitte said. After all, “who better to protect and take care of our kids than us?”

New domestic terrorists for DOJ to target:

Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins, far left, with several of the “Dads on Duty” volunteers and Kim Pendleton, principal of Southwood High School. Perkins invited them to a city council meeting, where he declared Oct. 26 “Dads on Duty Day.”

The left is going to have to stop this as is shows the positive impact dads have on children, including black children. Plus is shows schools working with parents can improve the school.

Any true Louisianan knows not to mess with any native resident with the last name “Lafitte”.

And WaPo is, no doubt, SHOCKED by this.

My wife was at the grade school with our kids volunteering 3x a week. I would show up for lunch once in awhile. Junior High my wife was around for numerous events.

Just having a parent at the school once a week was shown to have a huge impact on their own kids, and also all of their friends.

That is the REAL “It takes a village” thing. Not the government, but a known adult that is willing to help and guide a child, even if it isn’t theirs. (And, the kids knowing that “If I miss-behave - she is going to tell my parents!”

Public schools allowing parental involvement with WaPo’s approval? Has the world gone mad? Is the FBI going to let this pass?

so... basically plainclothes policemen? because that’s all police are, someone else’s dad protecting their own. This is all a result of the end of the neighborhood school.

Best story I’ve seen in a long while - good on those dads for stepping up & I hope their program does spread to other schools & around the country.

BTW, those dads are BIG guys! If I were a kid, I wouldn’t want to be ‘messing’ around getting in trouble with those guys ‘on duty’.

“If I miss-behave - she is going to tell my parents!”

My parents always told my teachers, in front of me, “if my boy acts up then whup him and send a note home so we can whup him too.”
Thing is, they meant it!
I never acted up because I knew what would happen. My momma and daddy didn’t play around when it came to whuppings.

Love this!

Dads on Duty!

WONDERFUL.

Hopefully it spreads like wildfire. I know, the left will find something wrong with it as it will destroy their plans.

Try and catch the OfficerTatum YouTube video on this. He shows the fights and how Dads walked in and stopped them. They also greet kids when arriving at school — a chilling effect of the idiots that like to disrupt things to stroke their egos.

As tothe Dads, those are some large uns. Geesh. Imagine being cornered.

Oh, why is the woman not masked?

My daughter in grade school stabbed a bully in the arm with a pencil. She was trying to “walk and talk” (leave him and tell a teacher) but he kept pestering her.

She saw a pencil on the floor, picked it up and stabbed him in the arm. He ran off crying with the pencil still in him.

The principal called us both in to talk to us in the presence of our daughter. We all agreed that what she did was not the right way to handle it.

The principal asked us what we were going to do about it.

“Well, I think we will go down to the ice cream store for a special treat.”

The Principal smiled. “I think that is a great idea.”

Unbeknownst to us, our daughter later wrote the bully a note saying how sorry she was, and explained how he had just made her so mad. We got a photo of it from the mother of the bully. (We knew her.) She knew her son deserved getting stabbed, but was also so thankful for our daughter’s note.

I saw the mom a couple of years ago. Her son is doing well with a good job, etc. Glad to hear of it.

I was a single Dad and raised 2 sons (now 26 and 24) on my own. At the beginning of the each school year we would have the “Parent Teacher Conference”. I always took a stack of cards with me with my phone number and email address on them. Teachers were told if there was a problem to call or email immediately, if needed. Quite effective.

Good, getting involved in your kids schools is necessary and required for things to work correctly.

If I was a scrawny little trouble maker I don’t think I would mess with any of those guys.
They look like they individually weigh in at 400 +/- lbs each.
😁
