My wife was at the grade school with our kids volunteering 3x a week. I would show up for lunch once in awhile. Junior High my wife was around for numerous events.
Just having a parent at the school once a week was shown to have a huge impact on their own kids, and also all of their friends.
That is the REAL “It takes a village” thing. Not the government, but a known adult that is willing to help and guide a child, even if it isn’t theirs. (And, the kids knowing that “If I miss-behave - she is going to tell my parents!”
“If I miss-behave - she is going to tell my parents!”
My parents always told my teachers, in front of me, “if my boy acts up then whup him and send a note home so we can whup him too.”
Thing is, they meant it!
I never acted up because I knew what would happen. My momma and daddy didn’t play around when it came to whuppings.
