Washingtonians love to complain about taxation without representation. But for me and my fellow noncitizens, it is a fact of political life that we submit to unquestioningly year after year, primary after primary, presidential election after presidential election. Nearly 15 million people living legally in the United States, most of whom contribute as much as any natural-born American to this country’s civic, cultural and economic life, don’t have a say in matters of politics and policy because we — resident foreign nationals, or “aliens” as we are sometimes called — cannot vote.

You can usually get a "tell" what the "elites" are up to from reading their house organs.
If I connected the dots, why do you think the Biden/Obama cabal is shipping illegals all over the country? This article is the trial balloon.
They *know* their policies are on the track to be dsmn near universally reviled-thus the need for "replacement voters".
Simple question to the author: what is the point of having a country if the the franchise is expanded to *everyone*, including those who have no stake in the consequences of an election? At that point, life becomes what you can obtain by force of arms.
When all their precious ‘migrants’ start voting REPUBLICAN, they’ll be screaming for tighter voting laws!...................
But that’s the way it is!!
I don't know how else to explain that.
I’d limit the vote to men and property owners. Worked for a long time before the 19th amendment...
Sure pal - why shouldn’t we let the Chinese vote remotely from their homeland too?
Are you going to be a racist bigot and claim that “territory” is the deciding factor in who gets to vote?
The communists and Democrats have been pushing this for decades - it’s just that the radicals are in charge of the DNC now.
The Left is rabidly against Colonialism, are they not?
Yet, they invite everyone from these countries here. Wonder why?
More importantly, I’d love to visit the neighborhood the writer and his buddies live in. Have to wonder how diverse it is.
As Tucker Carlson has asked more than once on his show...How many of these folks are being dropped off on Martha’s Vineyard?
Then there Is No Good Reason You Should Have to Be wealthy to live in a NYC Manhattan high-rise, either...............
Property owners over the age of 30.
Ya'll are missing the point. If the democrats can get non-citizens to vote in elections, they have another group to extract money from in return. Can you see what the Chinese would do in helping the democrats get elected and how rich the democrats would get in return?
Since the freeholder requirement was dropped as a requirement to vote, the vote has been cheapened and the republic has gone downhill. Eventually it just be a competition to see which side can outdo the other in a ballot box stuffing contest.
Apparently the so-called opinion writers at the NYT sniffed a lot of glue in their younger days destroying what little grey matter they had so now they write this kind of drivel.
I’m a woman and I’m almost to the point of agreeing with you. Mainly “property owner “ for sure.
Like the Cuban refugees.
I think Democrats should only get 2/3rds of a vote, to offset their fraud. Kinda like a handicap in golf to even things out.
I don’t know how else to explain that.
I believe I do, but I have a good degree in philosophy, with 50+ years of life in this milieu, and I believe am reasonably well read, and I think that all of these are required:
This is the rejection of the idea of a “social contract.”
We now seem to be not only post-Enlightenment but post Enlightened, that is to say the various social and psychological fixtures of the Enlightenment are being discarded, just as the social and psychological fixtures of Christendom were cast off over the past two to three centuries.
There is no good reason the NYT exists in today’s world.
They are the enemy.
Find where the writers live.
And make them afraid.
Then go where you can vote and live there.
What other country on this planet would even entertain such a ridiculous notion as to allow non-citizens to vote?
They need to try pulling that crap in Canada or Mexico.
They don’t even let LEGAL ‘permanent residents’ vote!
