Congratulations Liberals, You Have Finally Destroyed Major College Sports
MSN ^ | 7/7/2021 | John Ziegler

One of the strangest of our many human failings is the apparent pathological need to destroy anything truly extraordinary. The increasingly obvious demise of our formerly great nation as a whole is an excellent example of this, but it is hard to beat what a coalition of mostly extremely liberal factions have just done to the basic goodness — despite all the imperfections — of major college sports, all under the guise of a fake civil rights crusade.

In case you missed it over the holiday weekend, the NCAA officially announced that, for all intents and purposes, there is no longer such thing as amateurism in big-time college athletics, as players can now be paid lots of money for their “name, image, and likeness.” It is clear that elements of the NCAA did not want to make this move, but their hands were tied by the actions of California Governor/King Gavin Newsom, who two years ago began this snowball rolling down the mountain......

The author, John Ziegler, has insisted for the past 10 years that Sandusky is innocent of all charges. Other than that he’s a keen observer of the obvious.

Even high schools are approaching this age of professionalism that isn’t really professionalism.

Mater Dei High School in California is a fine example.

Progressives (Communists):

First they destroy college education, secondary education and elementary education. Then they destroy athletics within those educational organizations.

Let’s face it. Everything they touch they turn it into $#!+!

All part of the plan.

Not something random.

This loser sounds like a pathetic jackass sitting in front of his TV 15 hours a day -- thinking Vince Lombardi is still anchoring the "Seven Blocks of Granite" on the offensive line of Fordham University.

While I rarely follow college or pro sports any more because of the political correctness, I’m absolutely positive that this is an epic mistake, however I can’t help but look forward to the whole thing flying off into the ditch and exploding into a giant ball of flames......I can’t wait

There’s a high school for waiters? Do their grads make ends meet by acting, until a good job comes along?

This isn’t a left wing issue - just the opposite. College sports and universities are now fully institutions of the American Fascist left and if this brings them down a few notches, so be it.

“The NCAA destroyed college sports...”

Yep. Also, anybody that doesn’t think elite players don’t already get paid by rich megaboosters needs to wake up.

That has also has been happening for many many years.

Haven't seen this scenario mentioned yet:
In women’s sports, it is an absolute mystery how none of the liberals applauding this move have apparently even considered the inherent dangers in essentially allowing rich adult men to pay young female athletes, potentially based almost purely on their physical attractiveness.

Many of these women are teenagers in financially compromised positions, and men can now pay them lots of money for say an “autograph,” or an endorsement of their business, all with inherent plausible deniability.

Gee, what could possibly go wrong there?!

Huge college football fan most of my life. All college sports are now dead to me. If some kid phenom wants to make money playing sports ball, let him turn pro ASAP, follow the euro soccer model and leave the colleges out of it.

I see little if any difference in allowing College athletes to be paid for endorsements and an athlete being awarded a full or part scholarship by the school.

The author is full of crap. It was the U.S. Supreme Court decision last week -- a decision that was pretty much inevitable -- that forced the NCAA's hand.

I have stated before that scholastic sports at all levels will disappear -- probably within ten years. This might actually accelerate the process by demolishing the NCAA as a business entity.

The NCAA has never taken the Indian out of Indianapolis nor Indiana, but they sure have been after the mascots.
