Huge college football fan most of my life. All college sports are now dead to me. If some kid phenom wants to make money playing sports ball, let him turn pro ASAP, follow the euro soccer model and leave the colleges out of it.
Exactly, we should have academies and sports clubs where talent is developed. Separate athletics from education. And I say that as a former die-hard college sports fan.
Our nearby University’s baseball coach was asked why there were no or so few black players on his team.
His answer was, “they hope to go directly to MLB via the draft.” We don’t recruit many because they can’t do the work required to pass courses and I won’t set them up to fail!”
