The American Federation of Teachers union boss Randi Weingarten claimed at the union's annual convention that teachers were so terrified of going back to school that they were "quitting in droves" and "making their wills".
The AFT threatened that its members would go on strike if they were expected to go back to actually doing their jobs and teaching in a classroom.
In New York City, the United Federation of Teachers, which is affiliated with the AFT, marched with cardboard coffins and fake body bags. Some union teachers wore skeleton t-shirts.
A Halloween skeleton attached to a garbage bag held a cardboard sickle and a message written next to dripping blood, "Welcome Back to School". "I can't teach from a cemetery," one sign claimed. Another declared, "We Won't Die for the Department of Education."
Despite their claim that they feared for their lives, the march had little social distancing.
A few weeks after the death march, the AFT’s teachers took a break from making out their wills to get on buses and travel to Washington D.C. to take part in Sharpton’s 50,000 person rally.
The AFT was described as “mobilizing” for the Get Your Knee off Our Necks Commitment March in Washington D.C. which included lots of hate, but few coronavirus precautions.

Am thinking of all the indoctrination NOT happening with the schools closed, and a little surprised our domestic enemies want them shuttered, but since Trump wants them open, they don’t.
No one is holding a gun to their heads. It is their right to work or not. If they choose not to work they should be terminated and not receive one penny of Tax Payer dollars.

I am, in theory, pro-union. But yes, you are absolutely correct there. It should be handled just the way Ronald Reagan handled the air traffic controllers.
Side comment. It’s AFT President Randi Weingarten who is popping off there. It worth noting that the membership did NOT elect her, or any of the other top AFT officers. It’s all done through committees and delegates instead. For an organization that believes in democracy, their election procedures are quite Stalinist.

“Teaching,” is one of the softest rackets in the world.
Many teachers are dedicated to the profession, their students and the communities they serve.
HOWEVER, there have always been the slackers, the agenda driven, lazy louts that coast to retirement. The evil of “tenure,” makes it difficult to fire the non-producers.
Don’t feel sorry for them, they make huge salaries when reaching administration levels. This action by the teacher’s unions is sickening. Hypocrites, all.
Coaches, at University positions, are the highest government paid people in most states. That’s entertainment, not teaching.
Considering some of the teachers we now have, parents would do well to have their child(ren) sit in front of YouTube for their readin/writin’ and ‘rithmetic skills . . . hopefully absent of any LGBTQ curriculum nonsense.

The parents are in a bind, irreparable harm to your kids whether they are in school or not in school. Homeschooling is the only current solution but difficult for most to execute.
Unfortunately not, the teachers who were forced to stay home and not work have found that very stressful and will require their pay with a bonus.
