Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old suspected of fatally shooting at least two people and injuring another during protests in Kenosha over the shooting of Jacob Blake, has been arrested, according to local media reports.
Rittenhouse, 17, was arrested in Illinois and has been reportedly charged with first-degree intentional homicide.
Not sure of the purpose of your reply. My question stands. And now that there is word that he was asked to be there by the local police (fake news or real?), the question is even more relevant.
“Also, at 17 he was carrying illegally.”
I’m sorry but I must have missed it?
Where does the 2nd prohibit a 17 year old from carrying?
Oh, you must be talking about one of those unconstitutional state gun laws?
Probably knew that he was in for the Adam Haner treatment.
And we don’t know what happened before he was chased.
``
But we think we do. He was at the gas station up the road where some punk was smashing a parked car. A man with a long gun (LG) ran up to smasher yelling Stop! Smasher ignored. LG fires warning shot in air, smasher charges LG. LG shoots smasher in head killing him. LG and another long gun guy run off down the road. People yell, “stop him he shot a guy”. Punk with chemical bag on fire chases LG. LG falls the ground and the rest you know.
Feds need to take charge of this mess.
If he lives out of state seems like the feds could take it over, or at least open an investigation to slow the states case. But politically, its a terrible idea. They DO NOT need this mess in their lap.
1. Hes from Illinois. What was he doing in Kenosha, Wisconsin?
2. Can be legally carry an AR-15 in Wisconsin if he lives in Illinois?
3. Can be even OWN an AR-15 if hes only 17?
You mean the DA who is doing the charging.
The video clearly shows he was running away and fell and was then attacked. Skateboard guy tried to take his firearm and was shot in the chest in a clear case of self defense.
Video on post 151 doesn’t show it. I have seen another video on twitter that allegedly does show it. In that you can see the gunman running to the auto garage and being chased by someone that throws a bottle of liquid at him from behind. Then they both duck behind a vehicle and shots ring out. Film guy says shots fired and someone was shot. But I can’t see from the video the actual shooting. But clearly the shooter was being chased from behind so if this was the head shot victim, then it definitely raises plausible self defense in this case too.
You're right.
Something burning was definitely thrown at him.
Would that have been a molotov cocktail?
In my book, that cinches the self-defense angle.
I understood your tactical question. My point is at this point in our time, adults are a rare species. The adults defending the business, local, state, and federal are nowhere to be seen. That is my point.
“Each one involved deadly force (first guy with a molotov cocktail and a pipe, second guy with a skateboard, third guy had a pistol).”
Excellent point. He does not lose his right of self defense just because he does not live there. All three assailants came at him with dangerous weapons when he was on the ground. They did so knowing full well he was armed. Their intent was clearly aggression sufficient to surmount his ability to defend himself with his rifle. Ergo, self-defense.
And he is going to pay a huge price.
I think he acted in self defense. I would never vote to convict him.
But there is so much wrong with this kids thought processthey will crucify him. And his parents are going to be civilly liable. I hope they are putting the house in the In Laws name today.
How did he get separated from the rest of the ‘militia’
```
He ran from the gas station car dealer where he had just been attacked by another punk whom he shot in the head and killed
Is it federal, now, since he crossed state lines?
I think that's why the DA was compelled to charge the kid.
If I were in the kid's shoes, I'd assume after several nights of police standing around but doing nothing to stop the burning down of the neighborhood, that it would be up to me to protect myself and my property.
The mayor and the police sent a message, not just to the rioters, but to the local residents, too. The message to the law-abiding residents was to not count on the city to protect them.
The kid was just reacting to that message set by the city government. His defense should be that the city abrogated its responsibility by their days of inaction, and the DA is charging him now to try to deflect from their own failures.
Yep, but IL will send him. He is, supposedly, originally from Illinois. I’m not certain if he’s still an IL resident, but if he is and was carrying in WI, that’s a big no-no. That will be used against him.
WI doesn’t like to let out-of-staters carry. It may or may not be official policy, but the Staties don’t like it.
Innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Could have been worse. A fat woman could have had a heart attack nearby.
James Fields was chased by an armed crowd, ran into a few of them with his car trying to get away, and a tremendously overweight woman had a heart attack nearby (unclear at best if Fields’ car struck her). Fields is in prison for life for her murder. This kid’s chances in court are slim.
