In his first official press briefing on the coronavirus pandemic since April, President Trump on Tuesday admitted that the public health crisis is likely to worsen as cases surge across the country and asked all Americans to wear masks in public.
While Trump hailed his administration’s response to the pandemic and the work toward developing a vaccine, he bluntly disclosed what many Americans already know: that the crisis is likely to spread more before it can be contained.
“It will get worse before it gets better,” Trump said of the pandemic that has infected close to 4 million Americans. “That’s something I don’t like saying but it is.”
Trump’s comments come after weeks where he either downplayed the virus’ continued spread or focused on other issues – from unrest over racial injustice in American cities to the removal of Confederate statues – despite cases of COVID-19 surging, particularly, in parts of the south and southwest.
Noting the concerns among many of his supporters that facial coverings impinge on their personal freedoms, Trump pleaded with Americans to wear masks out in public to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
“We’re asking everybody when you’re not able to socially distance to wear a mask,” Trump said.

I have no problem with him making that request. He’s not instituting a federal mandate. My son is a doctor in NYC and has spent a lot of time in the ICU with COVID patients and has had to call many families to inform them that their loved ones have died. His opinion is that if we all wore masks, we’d get rid of this thing.
I don’t understand why Trump has not called out how the books are being cooked. And they are being cooked.

Yep that’s my prediction. Trump’s campaign needs to go after Wisconsin and Nevada and turn those states red so he gets 273 to win the election. Making a play for Minnesota is not a bad idea, appeal to Suburban moms who witnessed the bloodbath of George Floyd’s riots in Minneapolis. I think Michigan and Pennsylvania are out of reach this time, Democrats have learned not to take those states for granted and they won’t be cocky like Hillary was the last time

DJT. What the hell? I work closely with 6 people who have the Covid. It is body aches, fever, cough. No fun. But each one said that they would have worked through it if not for the Covid reputation.
I have a family member who is a half a commie nurse. She talks about the “neurological damage” done by the virus. Lost of taste etc. All I know is that I have had a Flu virus that caused that took a year to get it back. Lots of nasty viruses out there in the world. But you don’t stop working, you don’t stop living. You carry on and through sensible measures and lots of will power you carry on. No I have not caught the Covid cold and flu. I work 50-60 hours a week with the 6 who got it. Am I concerned? Nope. Not a big deal. I have had the cold, the flue, pneumonia. No fun, but take measures and carry on. What a bunch of snowflakes. It’s incredible to me that the day after the election this virus will magically disappear. What a joke. What a bunch of stupid lemmings, including DJT.
