Bloomberg takes credit for leading NYC through 9/11 — when Giuliani was mayor

Presidential hopeful Mike Bloomberg takes credit for leading New York “through” the 9/11 attacks in a campaign ad.

But there’s one problem: He didn’t become mayor until four months later.

Touting his leadership chops, the billionaire released a 30-second video including the claim.

“I led a complex, diverse city through 9/11 and I have common-sense plans to move America away from the chaos to progress,” Bloomberg, 78, is seen saying at a campaign rally.

But Rudy Giuliani was mayor during the attacks, and he didn’t hand Bloomberg the keys to Gracie Mansion until Jan. 1, 2002.

Yeah, he led NYC through 9-11 and Trump is merely enjoying the results of the obama economy!

I am waiting for Biden to claim that he was the one who led NY through 9-11.

I was working in NYC on 9/11 (which actually was primary day in NYC). Rudy was the man, and in fact there was talk of declaring an emergency and having him stay on as Mayor. After lots of back and forth, everyone agreed that Rudy should move on and Bloomberg took the reigns.

Now, to be fair, Mike didn't take his foot off the gas with regard to recovery/healing efforts. But the reason NYC came back the way she did was because of Rudy. It is sort of like how the Cold War ended during Bush's watch but all Bush did was harvest the bounty emanating from the seeds of victory that Reagan planted.

When I hear Bloomberg's name I think of soda bans, anti-smoking campaigns that wrecked the club and restaurant businesses, holophbia (except for his own personal security detail), a despotic tendency emanating from his third term shenanigans, and traffic congestion.

Didja notice I never once mentioned "leadership"?

Would have been more accurate if he’d said ‘aftermath’ of 9-11. But I think everyone knows who the mayor of NY was on that terrible day.

I wish that were true but after Obama I have very little faith in American voters.

Yes...that jerk even uses images from that horrible day on his TV ad! Even my ultra-liberal little sister was appalled at that.

Obama blamed his economy on Bush at every opportunity. Can’t have it both ways Barry.

Most are, but Guiliani still needs to publicly slap this fascist midget on the top of his head for the blatant lie...

Doomberg is a kook like Bernie and a idiot like Biden. His latest commercial is hoping to cause panic in America, he’s a drive by shooter shooting the very people he wants to represent.
