The best 'Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion' statement in the history of political correctness
american thinker ^ | 1/2/2020 | thomas lifson

Professor Stephen Bainbridge is getting a lot of well deserved attention and praise for staring for staring down the academic diversity mafia and throwing its own rhetoric back in its face. Required to submit to what amounts to a loyalty oath to "diversity" in order to qualify for a merit raise at UCLA Law School, he spoke truth to power and discussed his devotion to intellectual diversity — documenting it with footnotes.

I take the liberty of reprinting it in its entirety below, taken from his blog, ProfessorBainbridge.com:

Nice. But I don’t see how anything will come of it. It’s not like all of the conservative students will leave these cesspools.

That's not remotely his goal. Click the link and read the article.

“The term Hitler oath...refers to the oaths of allegiance, sworn by the officers and soldiers of the German Armed Forces and civil servants of Nazi Germany between the years 1934 and 1945. The oath pledged personal loyalty to Adolf Hitler in place of loyalty to the constitution of the country.“

-Wikipedia

So, they’re university NAZIs.

I read the article. He is beating against the wind. There is no remedy when you cannot make liberals abide by their own rules.

I admire Professor Bainbridge for taking a stand and calling out the lack of political and religious diversity at UCLA law school, but he would likely be the first to tell you that the hiring board is playing the long game when it comes to conservatives and Bainbridge himself. Within 20 years there will be zero conservative Republicans on staff, and the purge will be complete. The tipping point was reached some time ago; when the disparity of political and religious viewpoints reaches a certain minimum, the majority will naturally have a freehand in the selection of who gets hired, and the feedback loop results in statistics like Professor Bainbridge cites.

This is the ultimate goal of Leftists, to achieve a plurality, and then use this plurality to achieve political office, and enact whatever policies they see fit. Ironically, they would long ago have secured their plurality but for their intransigent support for abortion-on-demand (the vast majority of aborted babies would have grown up in progressive/ leftist social settings). Nevertheless, it’s just a waiting game now. Europe will fall to Islam without a shot being fired, the remainder of the West will fall to Leftists, and the world will plunge into darkness and chaos. The East will seek to isolate itself once again. That’s how I see this playing out, based on the current trends.

Zero tolerance diversity and inclusion policies have workplace supervisors monitoring not only if an employee reports taking something another employee said the wrong way, but ANTICIPATING that someone could take something the wrong way even if no ill will was intended and nobody reported anything. Managers are listening in on conversations assuming the worst of their employees, perceiving that someone may perceive an insult and acting on that precognition even if it didn’t really happen. In other words you can become unemployed for an imaginary crime. I have personally been threatened by this. Loosing your income in a dystopia means it’s all over.

Down in the bardo
there was nothing to hold so we let it go
we were empty, we were hollow
shined with everything we were living for

and you see your soul
like some picture show
across Idaho

we were running through the autumn leaves
a couple kids just wearing out our jeans, running
Mary she’s our autumn queen
watch her smoking cigarettes in the street

and down she goes
cold she blows
across Idaho

and there’s lights up in the north
and I ain’t wondering where you are
yeah just lights up in the north

now it’s white as snow
watch the evening glow
across Idaho

"A study of various university faculties showed that at Cornell the ratio of liberal to conservative faculty members was 166 to 6, at Stanford it was 151 to 17, at UCLA it was 141 to 9, and at the University of Colorado it was 116 to 5."[4] Conservative students at UCLA have been "harassed, stalked, and threatened."

.

It appears the 'oh so tolerant' among us... ARE the bigots...

I think a lot of academics, especially in the hard sciences, do not agree with the way political correctness is working out, but they hold their tongues because they do not want to rock the boat. The last thing they need is a grievance studies mob invading a lecture and demanding their ouster. But sooner than later they will be faced with an ultimatum and forced to take a public position on questions like: Are science and math racist? We will soon get to see what metal the allegedly smartest among us are made of.

“It helps that Professor Bainbridge holds a tenured endowed professorship, the highest-status post available to teaching faculty in a university.”

Finally, a professor who tells the TRUTH. I read the entire article; it is perfectly well-written and filled with indisputable FACTS. Even though this professor is super-intelligent, unfortunately, he’s definitely in the minority, as far as university professors goes.

Not quite. This pledge of loyalty is to a set of ideals rather than an individual leader. It is still over the line and disturbing that so many blindly go along with it.

Those stats are for those universities’ law schools. I have seen stats that show that the law schools at Harvard and Yale are even more one-sided.

So I take it this means they can't fire him. In that case I advise the good professor to avoid any trips to hunting lodges with big fluffy pillows on the beds.

As far as I’m aware, tenure is similar to having an insurance policy against being fired, however, since the good professor is a Republican, I’m certain the commies can find a way to fire him, if they try hard enough.
