WASHINGTON Republican Party leaders may be insisting that they will install Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, but Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is offering a blunt warning of her own: Do not prejudge sexual assault allegations against the nominee that will be aired at an extraordinary public hearing on Thursday.
We are now in a place where its not about whether or not Judge Kavanaugh is qualified, Ms. Murkowski, a key swing Republican vote, said in an extended interview in the Capitol Monday night. It is about whether or not a woman who has been a victim at some point in her life is to be believed.
One of two Republican woman in the Senate who supports abortion rights Susan Collins of Maine is the other Ms. Murkowski was always expected to be a critical vote in Judge Kavanaughs confirmation process. But she is making clear that, beyond matters of reproductive rights, she is deeply troubled by Christine Blasey Fords story of a sexual assault by Judge Kavanaugh when she was 15 and he was 17.
In the interview, Ms. Murkowski emphasized how invested she is in assessing Dr. Blaseys story. She said she worked behind the scenes last weekend to ensure negotiations between Republicans and the accusers lawyers did not fall apart because of an arbitrary timeline. She canceled a meeting of the Senate committee she chairs on Thursday to ensure her schedule was clear.

If I remember correctly the guy who primaried her was given little to no help by the GOPe. In effect, they allowed her write in candidacy to succeed. She will vote for Kavanaugh. She just wants her vote to be purchased.
“””It took Sen. Lisa Murkowski five attempts to pass the Alaska Bar Exam, a piece of her biography that’s gone unreported until now, when she faces a long-shot write-in bid for another term in her Senate seat.
Murkowski, who graduated in 1985 from Willamette University’s College of Law in Oregon, wasn’t admitted to the Alaska Bar until November 1987. She flunked the exam in July 1985, February 1986, July 1986 and again in February 1987. She passed on her fifth try in July 1987. “””

I’m talking about her write in victory over Joe Miller after he beat her in the primary in 2010.
yeah, ok
Not quite. Miller beat her in the Primary he was a Tea Party guy and the GOP worked to help Murkowski beat their own candidate. They even helped her get on the ballot.
And that is what a LOT of Freepers don't seem to understand. They keep saying Grassley should VOTE NOW VOTE NOW but they don't get that he's walking a tightrope. If he does that and the three idiots vote no...then we end up with no judge.
And UNFORTUNATELY, we don't have a majority leader with a pair and a spine who knows how to punish those who get out of line like the democrats do. If Turtle knew what he was doing, he would pull the two that were going to be here in 2019 aside and say "look, stop this nonsense now and vote yes, or I will put you as a junior member on the worst sub-committee I can think of and give you two the office with all the rats! You'll think you've died and gone to hell!"
But he won't...because we don't have a real leader.
Yes, but it was the Alaskan voters who elected her. I know a lot of Republicans like to think it’s always the fault of the GOP leadership but reality is that our core voters are pretty squishy. They need more discipline.
” Hard not to remember that had Luther Strange been nominated for Senate in AL, wed have that crucial extra insurance vote.”
we’d also have an extra R vote if RINO’s hadn’t skanked our nominee with these exact same despicable tactics.
Yes. But I’m going one step further and saying that the constituents need to put pressure on them. That will be a lot more convincing that if McConnell or Grassley does.
The Dems are very good at motivating their base. Republicans seem to think that all they have to do is blame their leaders and threaten them at the polls. Putting the screws on your reps is a lot more effective.
Murkowski has the IQ of an ashtray.

“It is about whether or not a woman who has been a victim at some point in her life is to be believed.
So its now simply fact that Ford is a victim just because she says she was?
And this is enough evidence to hold up confirming an otherwise well qualified nominee?
Good grief.
Sounds like its time for Trump to employ his Art of the Deal skills and have a sit-down with every red-state dem with a potential of getting his mind right.
I cannot flipping stand this woman. She’s a bought and paid for democrat operative.
Sick.
Over my dead body! And I don’t go down easy!
I dont know about that, but anything is possible.
However if one of these folks betrays Kavanaugh over these nothingness the GOP will get slaughtered in Nov.
This complete overplay by the Dems is finally engaging the non traditional MAGA voters... the crazier they act, the better the GOP will do.. but if they GOP cave... forget it.
Id like to think that none of them would... but nothing surprises me anymore
She bought and paid for by whoever shows up with a check!
She is a two faced B-t-ch but she must spread her legs wide because she cant be beat in Alaska by a Republican.
UPDATE: Yertle told the Values Voters summit that there would be a vote on K early next week and he would be confirmed.
Yertle doesn’t usually make promises if he doesn’t have the votes.
Likewise, SpewMore is absolutely off his rocker nuts tonight, so he must know Yertle has the votes.
Dude, I follow you and even I dont know who SpewMore is!
