Who would have suspected that a handheld genetic test used to unmask sushi bars pawning off tilapia for tuna could deliver deep insights into evolution, including how new species emerge?
-------
The study's most startling result, perhaps, is that nine out of 10 species on Earth today, including humans, came into being 100,000 to 200,000 years ago.
"This conclusion is very surprising, and I fought against it as hard as I could," Thaler told AFP.

Dead stuff exists...
...time passes...
(and a miracle occurs)
Live stuff now exists; evolution can NOW take place.
So; how many times has this MIRACLE occurred until it FINALLY decided to have the ability to REPLICATE??
Ya gotta do this, BEFORE E can do it’s thing!
...”In the beginning, God created......
Science may get it right one day.”...
The teaching of evolution as a fact and not the theory that it is has done irreparable damage to the minds of children and to the wisdom and knowledge of society. But, alas, it did a magnificent job of turning people away from the Creation story of Genesis. Why did the evolutionists pay so little attention to Darwin’s own doubts about his theory and about the lack of a fossil record to point to? Fake news is not new!
Evolutionary theism’s version of the evolutionary ‘miracle:’
Cosmic egg forms from out of the void (nothingness). Evolver deity ‘causes’ Egg to explode (Big Bang) Out comes matter, energy, time, life, and possibility of conscious life.. Evolver deity uses evolution to create stuff. After millions of years of death and suffering, hominids emerge. Out of hominids man emerges. Who is responsible for death and suffering? Evolver deity.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. (Gen 1:1)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.(John 1:1-3,14)
For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authoritiesall things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (Col 1:16,17)
Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. (Heb 1:1,2)
Ice ages cause a rather dramatic environmental impact on species. Life of today is composed of those species which somehow managed to survive the last Ice Age.
Good point. But we are still in an ice age. Currently we are in an interglacial as your chart points out. Notice that the last interglacial was warmer, long before Al Gore got his fleet of carbon spewing SUVs and private jets.
If you can't see or taste the difference between tilapia and tuna, you shouldn't be in a sushi bar.................
Thank God I was born without the sweeping gene...and also the vacuuming and dusting gene.
I have them all hired out.
Well, Duh. This has always been obvious to me. Apes have 24 chromosome pairs. Humans have 23. There's NOTHING in between. (And you can't go from 24 to 23 over zillions of years.)

Many Burgess Shale fossils are on display at the Royal Tyrrell Museum Drumheller, Alberta. As the main attraction, the Museum has one of the largest collections of Dinosaur fossils in the world
Ha, ha..... by overlooking reality you make a joke
The Genesis account is so vague it can include most everything
Get off your ass and spend time in the field. By observation, you can get glimpses of the evolution in progress.
It is easiest to observe in plants but it takes work and time in the field
It's actually pretty detailed and logical if you read it.
More briefly stated: mitochondrial mutations are highly constrained leading to very minute and repetitive patterns of change that cannot be distinguished from one another and that take place over periods of time that far exceed the time span of nuclear DNA species differentiation, making mitochondrial mutation rates useless for determining species differentiation.
Sound right?
What I mean to say is, that if intermediate forms didn't work and therefore were "selected out," then you lose all those helpful little incremental mutations embodied in those intermediate forms, and you're back at Square One. "Hopeful monsters" (as the term was used by Goldschmidt but even moreso by Gould) would never make any progress because they would always get selected out before they spawned any bright young'uns that were Hopeful-Plus-One.
It's important to keep in the front of your attention that evolution does not have a telos. Evolution doesn't "know" or "care" about anydamnthing. It doesn't "hope" that if it just hangs in there, eventually the little incremental mutations will survive through the rough patches and turn into Julian Huxley... :o)
Seems to be a tautology in there somehow. If it was essential it couldn't be missing, if it was missing it couldn't have been essential, yadda yadda...
i read his one of his refutations too (post trial) and it was silly- He basically created an ‘intelligently designed’ scenario in which ‘irreducible complexity could have arisen naturally’ and he had to include ‘supernatural events’ in order for his ‘completely natural’ process to occur- Miller was trying to claim that the irreducibly complex mechanism of blood clotting (i believe it was) ‘could have arisen completely naturally’ but then goes on to describe a completely supernatural process under tightly controlled non existent natural conditions
[[If it was essential it couldn’t be missing,]]
Hence the —need— for an intelligent designer to supernaturally create a fully functioning irreducibly complex structures
Reread miller’s refutation work carefully- you will see that he had to include intelligently designed controlled natural scenarios and supernatural events for his ‘completely natural’ process to work- sure it sounded like it was plausible, until you began to dissect his claims and until you noticed he introduced unnatural scenes in which it could have arisen ‘naturally’
In Miller’s ‘refutation’ of behe during the trial- miller misrepresented Behe’s words, and even the judge did so- Here’s a link goign point by poitn through the trial points on IC:
https://evolutionnews.org/2006/04/do_car_engines_run_on_lugnuts/
I honestly think that if Michael Behe's thesis were treated fairly, it would prove to be a terrific heuristic device even if it were refuted step by step. It would force a re-thinking of the selection pressure needed for intermediate forms.
However Kenneth Miller and the rest don't present Behe accurately, and thus don't refute him.
Why doesn't Miller get together with Behe over a weekend and say, "Look, I think I can concoct your mousetrap incrementally, but first I have to describe your mousetrap accurately at every step of its assembly. Look, is the way I've stated it flawed? Do you recognize this as your mousetrap?
Otherwise, it's just a kind of Rube Goldberg thing-a-ma-jig that actually can't trap a mouse, but wantsto ...
agreed- that link i posted has the full article link down near the bottom- it’s clear that both miller and the judge weren’t about to give behe and ID a fair trial- The judge claimed that there was no evidence for a ‘positive defense of irreducible complexity’ and claimed there was only a ‘negative presentation against natural evolution’- this was a lie- there was positive evidence for IC presented.
Evolutionist supporters presented the judge’s ruling as a major victory- but it wasn’t- it was a miscarriage of justice- and they knew it but didn’t care- the ruling was all that mattered to them- truth be damned
