Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) leaving the U.S. Senate should “establish a national standard” on how the Senate deals with Alabama GOP Senate hopeful Roy Moore if he wins.
Partial transcript as follows:
DICKERSON: Joining us now is Senate Democratic Whip Richard Durbin. He is in Springfield, Illinois. Welcome, senator. I want to pick up on something that Senator Collins said about the choice that senators may face if Roy Moore is elected in Alabama. And the question is: What business does the Senate have in overturning the will of the people of Alabama if he is elected? Senator Collins said that’s a very tough decision. What’s your sense of it?
DURBIN: Well, John, I can tell you this. First, the decision is to be made by the voters in Alabama on Tuesday. And I hope that they will do the right thing in terms of defining their standards and values when it comes to people representing them in Washington. But we have heard from Republican senators first who have suggested that if Roy Moore ends up being elected to the Senate, he would face close scrutiny, investigation, even removal from the Senate once he arrives.

Franken admitted that his charges were true.
Moore has never done that and Moore’s accusers have major problems with their claims.
Demanding we treat them the same is preposterous.
Durban has never demonstrated he had a lick of sense.

Here’s an idea: why don’t we let the voters of Alabama decide what the standard of conduct should be in this case? While we’re at it, lets let the voters decide whether they even believe the accusations.

Roy Moore has been married for thirty plus years with no hint of scandal or wrong doing. All the folks who claimed he kissed them were of age and said he stopped when asked

I've written this same thing a few times on FR. They were so close to turning us into a Communist state that they are now having tantrums because they were almost touching the brass ring but missed it.
We have to keep pushing ahead and working extremely hard to reverse everything they have done over the past 25 years. Obama did more than the other commies because of the pass he was given due to the color of his skin but we finally were able to put them in check for now. We must push through while they are still on their heels. Knock them out for good.

Franken will say he has to do the job the voters elected to do. He will admit he used some bad judgement but will need to carry on his crusade against Trump.

Apparently, the entire left is unaware of the concept of ‘innocent until proven guilty.’
Franken hasn’t left. So that means Roy should stay.

When this bunch calls for Bubba’s bennies to be cut, I would take them only slightly more serious, and then again only if the accusations were PROVEN to be true, which so far are not.
If these accusations against Moore were more credible, they would file some charges or make a sworn statement. They are not and therefore, they will not.
The Al Franken precedent is to lose an election and demand recounts and then steal it by fraud.
As far as the accusations against Moore, I do not find people who openly advocate for ripping babies apart to be trustworthy. They lie.
