...Few seemed concerned. So to call attention to the privacy risks, he decided to show that it was possible to use facial recognition analysis to detect something intimate, something “people should have full rights to keep private.”

After considering atheism, he settled on sexual orientation.

...

Presented with photos of gay men and straight men, a computer program was able to determine which of the two was gay with 81 percent accuracy, according to Dr. Kosinski and co-author Yilun Wang’s paper.

The backlash has been fierce.

“it is not 100% as being gay is an intellectual decision.”

I’m not certain what you mean by “being gay,” but same-sex attraction disorder in men is induced by the trauma of a molestation or seduction in the pre-adult years.

As with other trauma-induced disorders, not all who suffer the trauma develop the disorder, but no one develops the disorder who did not suffer the trauma.

So I walk over, and he was talking to someone...when I got within earshot, the guy had almost no accent at all, could have been an American!!!!!!!

The our ship had liberty in Hong Kong many of us adopted a British accent in the hopes the vendors would not recognize us as easy prey.(didn't work)

The cockney accent stayed with us for a week or so after we shipped out. Fun times 50 years ago,

I worked with dozens in graphics depts of investment banks in Manhattan. 75 percent are easy pickings. The other 25 percent I couldn’t tell until someone told me. The ones that aren’t really effeminate are a little tough to tell. Unless you ask them about their life. Which i didn’t get a chance to.

I have a theory to explain this discrepancy. Those who affect a "feminine" voice and mannerisms are actually closet transgenders. The non-affected are just garden variety gay. If you look up how transgender is defined, this explains the extreme butch appearance of supposedly lesbian women; they're not actually lesbians, by definition.

...gay organizations ... have been trying very hard to discredit the idea that somebody can accurately tell if somebody is gay.

And yet, they do this all the time.

I don’t believe that the attraction to the same gender is neccessarily a choice, however, I don’t believe that there is zero choice when it comes to promiscuity and the actual behavior itself.

That is because she watches the way he reacts to her.

Guys have a way of looking at women, even ugly women that is unique. Their body language changes. It becomes, for lack of a better word, protective.

Gays, misanthropes and misogynists also have a body language change but in the other direction. They don't like us and you can feel it.

Hahahahaha! Too funny...I can imagine a bunch of squids out on liberty trying that out...:)

Back on ship, I can easily hear guys in all aspects of their jobs using the accent for some time!

LOL, the division officer comes in and says “Guys, when you are on the sound powered phones, you can’t talk in the accent anymore...it irritates the Captain!”

“I don’t believe that the attraction to the same gender is necessarily a choice”

No more than it is a raped woman’s choice to develop rape trauma syndrome.

“however, I don’t believe that there is zero choice when it comes to promiscuity and the actual behavior itself.”

I don’t know how that can be reliably determined, one way or the other. People with “good personalities” blame those with “bad personalities,” refusing to accept that obnoxious people would correct themselves immediately if only they could. Many thin people assume that all fat people are to blame, when there are many causes of obesity other than overeating.

Can a mentally disordered man who suffers a compulsion to engage in homosexual acts control himself? Is it possible, or is he so weakened or demented by his mental illness that he cannot? Both opinions are held by men of good faith. Personally, I don’t know.

I do think that the young, at least, should be protected from people who suffer from this disorder. No contact, no public life that would make them role models.

I assumed when they said 91% accurate, that took false positives and negatives into account. If it does not, it is not 91% accuracy.

“Can they program it to detect terrorist and or murderers?
Rapist? RINOs?”

Probably.

It wouldn’t be useful or valid for prosecutions but it could be useful for screening purposes at airports and etc. by identifying people who could use a little more scrutiny than everyone else.

I guess their study proved something that no liberal likes to admit: that stereotypes about homosexuals (like most other stereotypes) exist because they're mostly true.

The classification algorithm would probably perform even better with voice recordings than with photos.

Evidence based research does not support your comments.

I have performed consciousness research on many gays and lesbians. Even do workshops for their communities.

Gender identity is a function of the dominant aspect of consciousness. Sexual attraction is toward the compliment of the person’s dominant aspect, irregardless of gender.

While trauma can be one of many influencing factors, it is not the most common.

Parental codependency with the developing child is the strongest influence.

Your comment:
“I’m not certain what you mean by “being gay,” but same-sex attraction disorder in men is induced by the trauma of a molestation or seduction in the pre-adult years.

As with other trauma-induced disorders, not all who suffer the trauma develop the disorder, but no one develops the disorder who did not suffer the trauma.”

Listen to Barack Obama or others suddenly ‘go street’. All kinds of vocal mannerisms are affected to be accepted.

LOL, Hillary is the famous one for that with her speech to a black church:

"We have a march to finish! On this Lords day, let us say with one voice, the words of James Cleveland's famous hymn: I don't feel no-ways tired! I've come too far from where I've started from! Nobody told me that the road would be easy, I don't believe he has brought me this far to leave me!"

I think equally cringe-worthy is the sound of Hillary Clinton quoting scripture...

Not all homosexuals are the “effeminate” type. One usually has the male role .

Who , outside of Hollywood had Rock Hudson as a queer.

I still can’t watch Ice Station Zebra without making snide jokes about “submarines” and Seamen”
Look at the annual Sodom and Gomorrah festivals at San Francisco.

Lots of leather biker types that never rode a Harley(unless his name was Harley.)

Stereotypes, ya’ll. Stereotypes.
