In case the lecturing, hyperbolic Avatar wasnt left-wing enough, get ready for four sequels from director James Cameron. According to star Sigourney Weaver, the new films will continue to expose the greed and callousness of evil corporations.
If youve forgotten, the 2009 film featured capitalistic humans raping the planet of Pandora in order to take the natural resources from giant blue creatures. Talking to Entertainment Weekly on Friday about the planned sequels, she said: These films are very much about the peril of this beautiful planet, and [Cameron] is continuing the same themes of greed and callousness of the corporations and plight of the indigenous people.

Guess we need to come up with a shoulder patch that reads "DESTROYING THE UNIVERSE. ONE PLANET AT A TIME". Just from the ads for the first one it was painfully obvious that this would be an anti-human, greedy bastards screed by the ecowankers. So, no we didn't see it and have no desire to. Sadly, some of the skulls full of mush read too much into this crap and we end up with new and shiny ecowankers.

The original Avatar had a lot of graphical action and a simplified story. I think the studio will be shocked that the same crowd won’t return in big numbers for this type of script.

Preposterous notion! Why, we haven”t even finished raping and exploiting Earth yet! There are still vast swaths of rainforest standing, third-world dust bowls that haven”t been mined out, rivers that run unvexed and unsullied to seas teeming with edible creatures ...
No, let’s finish our diabolical work right here at home before we venture to the stars.

Since the last one made over 2.5 billion that would not be too hard.

Avatar the 2009 film was a massive evolutionary step in cinematography. James Cameron devoted a decade to research and development of the cameras and tools that he needed to pull it off, because the then-current technology was woefully inadequate.
I can forgive the social commentary on those grounds.
The sequels sound like SJW/PC is the main driving motivation, not pushing the envelope of technology further. In which case, they won't get my money.

Nobody cared about the plot of Avatar (which is good since it sucked). People went on the strength of Cameron’s name and for the eye candy.

I’ve never seen it either and wouldn’t waste the time. The agenda is Crystal clear and I’m not paying these commies for political commentary.
I was happy that Bigelow beat Cameron for the best film award with Hurt Locker.

These sequels will depend on selling tickets to the young people who have recently been hired by those greedy corporations and moved out of their parents basements and out on their own at last.
Not mention the extremely greedy corporations and stars that are going to make these films.

The original Avatar had mind-blowing graphics, but the "plot" was so predictable as to be a satire in and of itself.
BTW, "raping the planet" isn't always as much fun as they made it look in the movie.
Last time I tried to rape the earth, all I got was a bad case of wood ticks.

Because greedy callous corporations are far worse than a greedy callous world government.
After all you have to deal with a greedy callous company.

I hated avatar. Leftist BS from start to finish. Visuals were what brought people in. The snowflakes will come to these and they will probably make money.

What’s amazing to me is that Cameron has developed this ability to make massive hit movies that everybody hates. It’s quite remarkable that Titanic and Avatar are the 2 highest grossing pictures ever, and like 6 people on the planet are willing to admit the like them. He has truly mastered the guilty pleasure.
