An unarmed Florida therapist was shot by police while trying to calm down his autistic patient, authorities said.
Police in North Miami were responding to a report of a man with what appeared to be a gun when they came across Charles Kinsey and his patient, who had run away from a group home.

Probably. At least they wouldn't be getting the attention they've been getting. Things like this prove their point.
Why don’t we wait for the full story to come out before all the condemnation. Something smells here.
Maybe yours. Not mine.
Uh, am I the only one who sniffs the title and believes there is more to the story yet to be known? I’d hope we at Freep would have a little more savviness than to put out fires with gasoline.
No, it is not the victims fault. The point I am trying to make is that BLM and Obama have created a nightmare for the police and the fact is..that blacks need to take extra precaution because of it. That is the world we live in right now and this example of this poor man being shot is a perfect example.
Hands up, don’t shoot?
In that part of the country the cops could have well been Hispanic.
In which case national media won’t go anywhere near this.
The police could have thought that kid has been hurt and the guy was the one that did it. The fact that they were responding to a 911 call creates a tactical situation.
I feel for this guy on the ground. it shouldn’t have happened. But it did and now Deray is going to shout it to the rooftops
Sounds like the cop was an idiot, if this is the case, fire him and charge him with some kind of minimal felony so he can’t own a gun but won’t do time in prison. Then buy the victim a nice facility where he can continue his good works. AND make a very big public apology.
Why are blacks the ones who need to take the extra precautions and not the police? And since the victim was down on the ground, hands empty and raised, alternately trying to keep his patient calm AND tell the police officer who he was and why he was there, exactly what precaution did he fail to take?
All I’m saying is let’s wait until we have the whole story and not be stampeded by a deliberately inflammatory article. The Daily Mail omits that police were responding to a 911 call about a man with a gun threatening to kill himself, and that that person was not complying and was shouting “shut up”.
So you’re suggesting that race was the motivation?
Hey doughnut boy, explain this one.
I am not going to argue this with you. I have a relative that is black. Young. Doesn’t look like a thug. Speaks well. Dresses well. But we have had a frank discussion about this and I have told him that no matter how rightly or wrongly he feels about it..he must do everything possible to alleviate any fear a cop might have if he is stopped . Especially since he has a license to conceal a gun and carries it everywhere.
When the cops shoot a white, it’s not in the news. When it’s a black, all hell breaks loose.
More like contributing factor; we'll never know what motivated him. But the root cause was a police officer who obviously panicky and as a result probably shouldn't have been a police officer in the first place.
What do you think was the cause?
I'd make them do one Saturday a month at least, maybe 2. That would be 13-24 firearm sessions a year. It would take that long to go over the entire spectrum of using lawful deadly physical force and its legal/social consequences.
Who the hell was the a$$HOLE who called the cops and said there was a man with a gun? No gun! This is the kind of mad hysteria that gets people killed!
Supine
No, that wouldn’t have been his motivation for putting himself in harm’s way to try to save a patient. Question is, who the heck is this police officer who shot his gun three times, hit this man in the leg once, and when asked why said “I don’t know”, WTH?!
