On what do you base your claim that race was a contributing factor?

“Impossible. The article title said the man did not have any arms.”

Now that’s funny.

The fact that they were responding to a 911 call creates a tactical situation.

I think therein lies the problem. Police used to police, now they are responding to tactical situations.

From Mirriam-Webster:

------------------------------

Police (v.)

to control (something) by making sure that rules and regulations are being followed

------------------------------

It used to be that when the police showed up, they were the cool heads ready to calm everything down, assess the situation, and keep order. Now when they arrive, someone is going to jail at the very least. They are there to kick butt, knock heads, and take no crap or nonsense. They come in with an adversarial attitude and full of adrenalin. They come into a tactical situation, and therefore they are primed to fight their way out of it.

I fully support both body cams and dash cams for all officers, for the protection of both law enforcement and the citizenry.

And that lays at the feet of Obama and BLM..and Soros. The cops fear for theirs lives and know they are in the crosshairs of a radical movement that will assassinate them.

I am an old white lady but if a cop stops me I am going to over cooperate just for my safety. They are on edge.

Not in any way shape or form.

I am saying flat out that decades of covering up bad shit with no penalties caused a point to be reach where nothing bad said about law enforcement was taken with a grain of salt anymore.

I am saying that if corrupt or incompetent officers had been dealt with as a rule, the loopy #blacklivesmatter crap could never have gained any traction.

You reap what you sow.

Cop probably shouldn’t be a cop but the whole BLM sham certainly had a role in affecting his mindset going into the situation.

Decades of the "Us vs. Them" mentality of LEO toward the citizenry might have something to do with it also.

...and yes, I realize that this statement will make me a low-life cop-hater to some...but I don't give a damn!

It does not really matter what the caller said. They could have said that it was a man from Mars. When the policeman arrived on scene, he should have had two eyes that he could see with. Now if the Officer was blind, if would be a different story. If the Officer knows what a firearm looks like, his eyes could have informed him[the officer] whether the man had a gun in a position to use it or not. The Officer should be charged with attempted murder.

Would have been evident that he had no gun, his hands are completely open. Very sad situation.

You presume that he was the target and not the other guy.

The SOB Cop should be brought up on charges of attempted murder. Shoot to kill is the motto our military, not our police.

I suggest that it's incidents like this that gives the whole BLM movement the ammunition it needs to keep going.

This sort of thing is EXACTLY what gives the Black Liars Movement cover and credibility.

If he was shot 3 times and was NOT the target with the other man that close, someone needs better training! Stevie Wonder could have done better.

I absolutely side with police when it comes to being targets by BLM and having to work under that stress, but when I see these ‘accidents’ I have to ask “did the dog survive?”

Do you think this started with the BLM? No, this adversarial attitude by law enforcement, this need to engage every situation as if it were a tactical shootout before arriving, has been going on for decades.

Let me give you a specific example of what I mean.

On January 1st, 2003, a family from South Carolina stopped at a gas station near Cookesville, Kentucky. The man filled up his tank and paid at the pump with his credit card. He set his wallet on top of his car as he put the gas cap on and forgot it. As he was driving off, his wallet released some cash that was in it, and someone at the station saw the money flying in the air and thought that the car had just been stolen. They called 911 to report a possible stolen car and gave a description of the vehicle.

A short while later, the family, a husband, wife and teenage boy, were pulled over, pulled out of the vehicle, placed on the ground and handcuffed. There were cameras on the officers, so we know what happened. The family begged the officers to close the doors to their vehicle because their two dogs were in the vehicle. The officers did not. One of the dogs got out and as its tail was wagging and its mouth was open (as seen on the video), it was shot as it approached an officer.

Now if the police were not amped up to catch some car thieves, they may have used their observation skills as they approached the car.

The car pulled over immediately. Most car thieves would try to run.

The car was from out of state and had luggage in it. Probably on a trip.

There were three people in the car and two dogs. Most car thieves don’t bring their animals along.

With that information, the officers could have asked to see a drivers license and registration. At that point, the man would have realized that his wallet was gone. The wife could have then provided ID and if her name matched with the registration, it would have become clear what had happened.

But the first instinct of the police was to pull people out and handcuff them. Let me say that again, the police felt to control a family traveling over the holidays, they had to physically handcuff them.

This is not a BLM problem. BLM is a problem all on it’s own, but BLM would not have grown into a problem without the environment where police go into every situation as if they must shoot their way out. This is a lack of training and discretion, and part of the problem is that police enforce the thin blue line mentality and bad cops are protected to protect cops in general.

Another problem is a lot of these cops are just out of the military, and have never readjusted to civilian life. Many still think and act like they're in Afghanistan,

Taking a guy straight out of combat, giving him a badge and puting him on our streets is a mistake. I suggest a 2 year "readjustment period" before you are allowed to become a cop after serving in the military.

Two questions come up with this with me:

1. There was no mention of black or white being in question throughout the article so I begin to wonder, if he was white, would he have been shot?

2. I read a few articles on this and found that the he was shot actually one time because they mentioned “the”bullet that hit him. According to the articles, there were three shots discharged. It took three shots to hit a man on the ground one time? The articles didn’t say if all three were from the same officer.

It was a big screw-up, but not intentional. Sounds more like a guy, or group, was scared, didn’t use proper weapon control. This or just plain stupid.

And I’ll bet you before the smoke clears, the feds will be in there mucking things up like usual.

The media is really going to have a field day with this one and the BLM crowd will “ride this horse” as long and as loud as they can. “Police Brutality”, “Hands up, Don’t Shoot”, etc...

Miami Herald reports one officer, three shots, one hit.

IIRC around 20% of shots hit the target.
