Never let it be said that Newt Gingrich is predictable.
As the political world waits to see if the former Georgia congressman and U.S. House speaker gets tapped to be Donald Trumps running mate, Gingrich teamed up with his former Crossfire partner Van Jones to discuss this weeks shootings in Dallas, Baton Rouge and Minnesota.
Speaking on Facebook Live, Gingrich was his typically direct self. But, in this age of polarized politics, whether it be of the electoral or racial variety, Gingrichs comments were also remarkable. Here is the key quote:
It took me a long time, and a number of people talking to me through the years to get a sense of this. If you are a normal, white American, the truth is you dont understand being black in America and you instinctively under-estimate the level of discrimination and the level of additional risk.

Whaddaya think of Sen. Tim Scott, S. Car.?
His conservativism is virtually impeccable. Personal, young, dynamic, intelligent.
Probably working against him is not enough foreign and domestic experience yet, not too well known nationally, he's from a state with a low electoral college count and where Trump should win, anyhow.
In his favor, he is black. Not in his favor, he is black.
I would vote for him in a heartbeat, but I don't think he will be the chosen.

Newt just went full Bernie Sanders.
You should NEVER go full Bernie Sanders, Newt.
Shut up Newt.
In my book this is ‘strike two’ for Newt. Maybe even 2.5
Tell us, oh Sigmund Gingrich, how to “understand” behavior.
The Newt worship seems bizarre to me as well. Notice that the oodles of Perrybots on this board virtually disappeared between his 2012 and 2016 presidential campaigns. He had a ton of people touting him as a courageous conservative hero during the 2012 election, but his 2016 candidacy was met with a collective shrug.
Yet in the case of Newt, he had endless FReepers gush over him when he was winning, still gushing over him long after his campaign became a national punchline and it was clear he wouldn't be the nominee, still gushing over him during the four years between campaigns, and still gushing over him even after their hero Trump slammed Newtie for daring to disagree with him. What Newt did to inspire such fierce loyalty is beyond me. I was a Santorum supporter in 2012 but he was a last ditch choice and I certainly wouldn't want him as Trump's running mate given the way the national media ridiculed him.
Newt: “It was never easy for me. I was born a poor, black child.”
hey Newt...things are bad now for white Americans....we are attacked daily by blacks, who assault us, rape us, steal from us, have fun "knocking" us down....
In my book, its about 'strike 47' for Newt. He's had numerous "WTF" moments since leaving Congress.
and Newt...white parents do have a conversation with their kids....or should....blacks will attack at any instance....when they are in groups they can be exceedingly violent...when applying for a job, put “Hispanic” on your resume so you won’t get beat out by every so called minority because of racism...
it doesn’t “suck” to be black in America....you get free camps/food/transportation/phones and if you have one lick of ambition, you can get a free college athletic scholarship and if you have a great shot at making millions for playing a stupid sport....
Wasn’t Bernie the author of that book some years back, “Black Communist Like Me?” or something... /s
Because clearly he has SUCH a grasp of what it means to be black...
What a dolt.
Democrats created the ghetto realities and lack of future that has become their current state of life, but as Johnson said, he gave the N words welfare so blacks will still vote Democrat. They gave up their self sufficiency in exchange for their government supplied taxpayer charity.
They were not unsuccessful before welfare. Starting and enabling welfare was like giving street drugs away to black families.
Only the ones who got over the Democrat party chains of the welfare state have made it to mainstream normality and success.
How do you remove welfare out of their lives so especially black families can thrive again? Welfare and not working is so entrenched that multiple generations might be gone.
The dysfunction is deep, I see few blacks in the private sector real world, they are either taking charity or are in those make work government jobs.
They need to go mainstream because one of the necessities for balancing our budget will be the ending of many government jobs and that will also be seen as a personal attack on blacks because so many are vastly over-employed through government.
There is no easy path to undo what the Democrat party has screwed up.
Don’t just go away, GET THE F*** AWAY!
Teaming up with Van Jones??? Commiepuke pro-black racist agitator?
GO THE F*** AWAY NEWT!
Please, Mr. Trump, jettison this freak!
Take a look at this 'protest' and the signs about 'racism'
YOU SAID IT!
Go Pence.
In other Connecticut news, I am Clinton fatigued. And Bambi fatigued.
peeples are looking for a chance to fight back. Cop Killing. Will it sit well with middle America?. There aint no votin’ this time of year. And Connecticut is another place like Cook County where politics is dead. Everything is gerrymandered and .... pre-determined.
The DEM primaries here are kinda feisty, 2 libs fighting each other.
Democracy is a method to bore peeples to death just when we is itching for a fight.
Christ, as bad as Newt is, General Michael Flynn is a registered rat and self-described centrist. UNACCEPTABLE option!
Williams, it’s the timing/reason for his statement. I long for a voice that’s dignified such as Frederick Douglas’ or Clarence Thomas. Newt has added nothing to salve aching souls, black or white. But he’s free to talk about himself if people want to listen.
