State Delegate Scott Taylor defeated Rep. Randy Forbes in the Republican primary race for the second congressional district on Tuesday.
With nearly 53% of the vote Taylor won more than 21,000 votes. Randy Forbes won about 41% of the vote. Pat Cardwell, a local attorney, registered about 7% of the vote.
Taylor said enough voters believed in his message that Washington is broken and that he will bring a fresh start. "People trust us to go do something about it," Taylor said. "That's extremely humbling and it's not a responsibility that I take lightly."
What may also have helped is that Randy Forbes didn't live in the district. Forbes' fourth district was redistricted and Forbes attempted to run in the second. Taylor pointed out that fact throughout the race as the campaigning at times turned nasty. "It was tough," Taylor said.

I like Forbes. Who’s Taylor?
We're playing the guess the state game.
Forbes voted to Fast Track the Obamatrade Bill. Supposedly this was his undoing.
According to an article on Drudge, Forbes voted to give Obama fast track trade authority.
This led to Forbes downfall. Americans are tired of losing jobs to foreigners.

But Virginia is still safe for Clinton, right Mister Pollster, right?
The winner of the primary. < /having fun>
VA will be tougher for Trump than OH this time around.
Way back when GW Bush signed the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan into law, I heard Forbes say something to the effect, “ My mom can’t pay for her prescriptions” when asked by a constituant why Forbes voted for the bill.
Forbes is one of the wealthiest members of the House from Virginia.
When Forbes’ district was rearranged as per the courts, he assumed that he could slide over into another district and in effect told Taylor to go away.
I happily voted for Taylor. See ya Randy. Now whether Taylor is immune to catching the GOPe “ you gotta go along to get along” disease remains to be seen.
I’ve always mistakenly considered Randy Forbes to be a reliable conservative vote. I had no idea until this primary that he’s voted liberal on several key issues important to me, including outlawing incandescent lightbulbs and socialized medicine.
It seems, he too, caught Potomac Fever.
15 years is long enough .”Forbes was first elected to Virginia’s 4th Congressional District on June 19, 2001, to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Norman Sisisky. “ https://ballotpedia.org/Randy_Forbes

More citizen legislature — President Jefferson is proud.
That is what the club does. They trade and hide votes from their constituents. I read papers from around the country rarely do you see a local paper interview a local congressman on a controversial bill, and certainly do not follow up that story with their vote. Its a mutual preservation racket.
Thankfully, one positive aspect of the internet and talk radio: They can’t get away with it like they once did.
