A new poll released on Thursday found Donald Trump with a big lead in Oregon, a state not necessarily expected to be favorable to the Manhattan billionaire.
The poll, conducted by the Portland-based Hoffman Research Group, found Trump leading Ted Cruz, a Texas senator, by 17 points.
Trump, the GOP frontrunner, was the choice of 43% of respondents.

Washington has a large number of Independents (few Republicans outside the lower population Eastern half), and an open primary. The Independents in Washington will be important - if he can capture them, he can perhaps be competitive in November there - it is uphill as Washington (Western) may be the most hard-radical leftist population in the country. They will probably be very upset with Hillary beating Bernie though (Bernie is actually to the right of the Seattle population).
Trump beats the bitch in a 50 state rout.
I’m a Trump supporter. I like what I hear him say. I don’t always like how it says it but at the same time it’s refreshing to hear somebody that is not crippled by PC’ism. My main priority is building the wall. That would help with national security, the safety of the American people, the economy, and jobs.
I think the reason I really like Trump is that he doesn’t have to do this. He doesn’t need the money. He doesn’t need to put his family through this. He doesn’t need more power. He is doing it because he can see how this country is circling the toilet and because he loves this country too much to let it continue. After Trump, I can’t stomach any of the politicians.
It’s a “dem state” because of Multnomah County and nothing else. 90% of the land area where people also live is conservative. Same way in Washington State, where the liberals control King County and Seattle. Get away from the Seattle area and rest of the state is reliably republican, especially east of the Cascades. It’s a shame that one little area of a state can determine the politics for the rest of the state.
But is it a DUMB state willing to vote for criminal illary?
Thanks hoosiermama!
Oregon is going for Trump!
Count on it!
Likewise in Los Angeles and San Francisco in CA. Seattle in WA. More than 50% of the people in all 3 states are reasonably minded. Trump will take them all in the primaries.
“Personally I think the right track is to prioritize the following three issues:
1) Bringing the southern border under control
2) Undoing the web of government and bad trade deals that make it difficult to conduct business in the US AKA putting Americans back to work
3) realign foreign policy to the national interest...”
I agree with this list. My only quibble is that the transvestite bathroom issue will not remain 2nd tier. Once a lot of institutions go to “one big bathroom” it is going to affect everyone in the country.
Cruz took himself off life support when he pulled the Carly stunt.
Not at excited about a Trump candidacy, but it’s time to rally behind him, if only for the sole purpose of stopping Hillary.
Good post.
Once liberal women start personally facing the reality of transvestites in the bathroom, that problem will get solved in months if not days. It’s a crazy world out there so watch your back.
with so many NYers and CA people heading to other states, Trump should address it.
He should say “why are you voting for all the bad things you left behind?”
“Once you get out of the liberal fever swamps of Portland and Eugene, Oregonians are pretty decent and well-grounded,”
pretty much exactly the same situation with ANY big urban area.
Portland had one of the longest-lasting “Occupy” camps in the country. Portland is full of loser, unemployed, youthful idiots who truly believe in Socialism because they have never had to work hard for a living. They THINK their lives are hard now, but they don’t know what HARD is. They don’t want a prosperous nation, because they haven’t been alive long enough to see an unprosperous nation, and neither have their parents, and maybe their grandparents. No one in their family remembers or told them stories about The Depression, or about the sacrifices made during WWI and WWII, and they haven’t lived through a truly devastating period of wartime (Vietnam), etc. They simply don’t know that things can get a LOT worse than they are now. They are, truly, useLESS idiots. That’s what Portland is filled with. So they cannot envision voting for someone who can “Make America Great Again” because they cannot see the dark side of where we’re headed if we don’t get this nation back on track.
I’m quite sure you didn’t intend to yell at me.
Those Liberals who moved to Oregon and changed the state completely by voting for the Liberal policies they brought with them from California are perfectly happy with THEIR policies. THEY (non-native-Oregonians) outnumber native-Oregonians to the point that THEY control the state-wide voting measures and state-wide political offices (Governor, etc.), as well as the electoral votes for President.
The NATIVE Oregonians are outnumbered, and have been for many years now. The NATIVES don’t stand a chance in changing the state back to RED. And me moving back there isn’t going to change a damn thing, other than my blood pressure, unless I bring about 400,000 - 500,000 Republicans with me.
Again, I’m quite sure you didn’t mean to yell at me, but I’ll accept your apology any time you’re ready.
One of the great posts about our Politics in general, in a long time. Thanks old timer! Conservatives, sticking so fiercely to their lists, have continued to slowly lose to Liberals, who will take what they can get when they can get it.
Multnomah county is where they are, ranked 16th most liberal county in the nation. They’ve redistricted the area so that however Multnomah votes, the state generally goes. Conservative areas of Oregon usually don’t even have a voice. That’s liberalism for you—sort of like fascism where minorities are trodden underfoot if they’re not liberal.
I agree that Oregon has an independent bent. That’s what I’m hoping will take hold when our nominee is Trump, and their nominee is Hillary.... When the Sanders people (everywhere, but especially in Oregon) see that the Democrat system is just as rigged as our system, I’m hoping the Sanders supporters — who HATE Hillary — will vote #NeverHillary with us in November, and vote for Trump.
I want to believe that too. I think it's true. I'm just hoping that enough of those Sanders supporters realize that the only way to not have Hillary is to VOTE Trump. It's not sufficient for them to sit out in November. WE must all actively work to recruit Sanders voters to becoming Trump voters. We simply must get some Sanders supporters on the Trump Train to beat Hillary.
