How Donald Trump Dominated Tuesday’s Primaries (Acela Primary Alert)

rump has won every state touching any of the states that voted on Tuesday, save Ohio. Rhode Island and Connecticut are hemmed in by New York and Massachusetts, which Trump won by 35 and 31 points, respectively. Maryland and Delaware are closer to Virginia, which Trump won by a narrower margin -- but that was back on (the original) Super Tuesday, when Marco Rubio was around to chew up 32 percent of the vote. Geographically, this is Trump territory. If you wanted to drive from Trump Tower to any point in the five states, the most it would take you is about six hours (assuming you got out of Manhattan quickly).

This is an area that's light on the sort of hard-right conservatives and evangelicals among whom Cruz has been more competitive. On average, 56 percent of Republicans in states for which we have exit poll data so far have identified themselves as evangelicals and 34 percent have identified themselves as "very conservative." We have preliminary exit polls from Pennsylvania, Maryland and Connecticut for Tuesday night, reported by CNN. In both Pennsylvania and Maryland less than half of the voters were evangelical and about 3-in-10 were very conservative. In Connecticut, only about a quarter were very conservative and a fifth evangelical. Not that it mattered; Trump won all of those groups anyway.

In those States, the majority of voters identifying as GOP would be considered as liberals in most of fly-over country.

In Delaware, true conservative Bible-believers (and there are a few) got their belly full of compromising when they were given no choice but the false Christian Romney in the last general election, reluctantly voted for him, and lost anyway.

They'll never vote for a backbiting billionaire blowhard like The Donald. Or phonies like HRC or Bernie. IMHO

Ahhh....it was two days ago when Cruzers were still trying to tell us that Trump supporters weren't educated or informed. Well Trump just KICKED *SS in some of the best states in the US for education standards. Not informed? Trump supporters had two days to figure out the PA delegate choice which favors insiders. Looks like they got it down pretty quickly!

PS: Why did Trump go to RI where he was comfortably ahead? Brilliant. He wasted the other two there.

And Cruz? That was humiliation times five. Yee-Hah!!

A year ago I was avidly for Cruz, right up until the end of 2015. Ted STARTED his campaign with the fundamental strategy that his bedrock was the Solid South. Firmly stanced on that, he could use the power and will of conservative logic, etc. and convince other new states not considered ‘republican’ - maybe even some of the ones that recently swapped from red to blue.

All that worked out real well, huh? Pretty soon, in addition to saying “real conservatives never expected (the South, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast)” you’ll have to add more of your ‘flyover country’ as well as a large chunk of the West Coast.

No doubt, Cruz has a plan for buying/stealing the members of the electoral college regardless of how the actual vote turns out. He can repeat Colorado on a national scale.

In PA, Trump won EVERY county, even Lancaster County in central PA, home to the VERY fundamentalist Mennonites and Amish.
