rump has won every state touching any of the states that voted on Tuesday, save Ohio. Rhode Island and Connecticut are hemmed in by New York and Massachusetts, which Trump won by 35 and 31 points, respectively. Maryland and Delaware are closer to Virginia, which Trump won by a narrower margin -- but that was back on (the original) Super Tuesday, when Marco Rubio was around to chew up 32 percent of the vote. Geographically, this is Trump territory. If you wanted to drive from Trump Tower to any point in the five states, the most it would take you is about six hours (assuming you got out of Manhattan quickly).
This is an area that's light on the sort of hard-right conservatives and evangelicals among whom Cruz has been more competitive. On average, 56 percent of Republicans in states for which we have exit poll data so far have identified themselves as evangelicals and 34 percent have identified themselves as "very conservative." We have preliminary exit polls from Pennsylvania, Maryland and Connecticut for Tuesday night, reported by CNN. In both Pennsylvania and Maryland less than half of the voters were evangelical and about 3-in-10 were very conservative. In Connecticut, only about a quarter were very conservative and a fifth evangelical. Not that it mattered; Trump won all of those groups anyway.

You can't say that of his opponents. He's come a long way and tonight Trump kicked ass.
Indiana here we come.
Trump won 142 delegates giving him 988 delegates as of tonight.
Just where he wants to be.
Trump has already surpassed Romney's primary vote total.
His vote in Penn actually puts that State in play!
And Cruz and his supporters think they can win the nomination and then the General election!
I have never seen a greater lunatic in my life.
Note the Cruz supporters on FR and their talking points.
I heard commentators tonight say this has never been done before. Is that true?
And here he is...a first time candidate with a thin organization and battling all sides except We The (FED UP!) People.
Obama begat Trump.
988? Holy cow!
What is your source for 988? That is a great number!
CNN this morning reported Trump won 142 delegates on Super Tuesday. That paired with the 846 delegates prior to April 26 brings Trump to 988.
Trump won every county, every CD and every state contested today.
Of the New England states that break down by town, Trump lost six towns in Connecticut and 1 in Rhode Island.
Trump took 110 of the 118 pledged delegates today (5 Kasich, 3 Cruz out of Rhode Island).
He’s also poised to get around 40 of the 54 “soft” unpledged delegates In Pennsylvania (basically giving him some wiggle room to lose Indiana).
In the past two weeks, Trump swept the Northeast, taking 200 of the 213 bound delegates (10 Kasich, 3 Cruz).
PA 51 bound plus unbound pledged delegates
CT 28
RI 9 (The Green Papers has 11)
MD 38
DE 16
So far the total is 142 (CNN) delegates for Trump tonight.
Ironically, it was the state that Trump did best in this cycle (Rhode Island - 64%), that kept him away from a complete delegate sweep.
A sweep wasn’t possible under the rules. However, Trump won the delegation 11-8, when most had Trump topped out at a 10-9 split in Rhode Island.
PA will likely be slightly higher on the “soft” unpledged delegates. I think the 51 includes the 17 statewide and 34 pledged to Trump. There are another 7-10 that pledged to support the statewide winner. I think Cruz got 3 delegates and Kasich 1 or 2. The remaining 7 or so are straight uncommitted.
Yep.
We are dealing with ~1,000 +\- delegates for Donald Trump after tonight. Trump now needs fewer than 240 to sew up the Republican nomination before the convention.
PA has 72 delegates of which 54 are unpledged. 40 of those 54 though pledged to support whoever won their district or supported Trump anyways. So that’s where CNN is adding in another 40 on top of the 17 delegates awarded to the state wide winner of PA.
In Pennsylvania I matched the Trump and Cruz lists tovthe names in green papers and got 39, so CNN says 40? pretty close as to the ‘unbound’.
Trump cheated, like always.
How did Trump cheat?
LOL
Pathetic
Accusing trump of cheating is not going to work around here. At all.
