Confab ahead of AIPAC speech meant to improve relationship with congressional GOP.
Donald Trump will host a group of nearly two dozen influential Republicans on Monday afternoon for an off-the-record gathering that his allies hope will improve his relationship with the congressional GOP and the partys Washington establishment, according to two attendees.
The meeting is Trumps first major meeting with lawmakers and key Republican figures since last fall, when he met with a smaller group at the Capitol after his speech at a protest against the Iranian nuclear agreement.
Several members of the House and Senate are expected to participate, plus a bevy of consultants and veteran power brokers, the attendees said, requesting anonymity to discuss the session.

He is already accepting money from those who want to donate
But not asking or expecting it and only from individuals
I have donated because I do not believe he should be doing this on his own
It can only get better ...
If he is going to be the leader of the Republican Party then he has to meet the republican congress at some point. The sooner they stop fighting and undercutting him the better
he is not owned by establishment money
but he also is not running as an independent
Cruz sold out; Trump is going to explain to the yahoos that they’re either with him, or out on their collective rears!
You don’t understand. It’s Trump’s nomination all the insiders, influence peddlers, the well connected and those with bad intent are trying to stop.
You bet. He’ll be head of the party as well as the president.
AIPAC will actually be a big turning point in the campaign as trump convinces the group that he can handle global political issues related to the US -Israeli relationship .... If Cruz uses the conference to attack Trump he loses even more ground, not that it will matter much after next Tuesday
How many of your posts do you have to have removed before you learn your lesson ?
Try living in the reality of the right now.
I’m confident AIPAC is aware they won’t be dealing with the usual dufus from D.C. I’m sure they’ll have a nice meeting.
OK I will give you my take on it.
The GOP establishment (GOPe) knows, understands and is convinced that Trump can not be bought. Trump does not need money from rich donors such as Robert Mercer. That fact threatens their empire of easy money making life of in DC.
The GOPe has realized that all of their favored candidates such Bush, Rubio, Kasich etc can not get 1237 delegates. The last hope to stop Trump in their minds is Cruz. So the GOPe is piling on to the Cruz hope.
The fact is Cruz needs 87% of remaining delegates to reach 1237. Mathematically possible, but in real world, impossible.
If Trump falls short of 1237, guess what is going to happen? The GOPe will toss Cruz out like a used toilet paper, and anoint one of heir chosen ones as nominee.
“The Art of the Deal?”
Yep! Trump and his supporters will be laughing all the way to the Presidency!
:)
Why did he not just bow out with honor?
Does he have too much campaign debt? Has he burned his bridges with the Senate? Is Heidi insisting on it?
Time may tell.
Yes, once upon a time, posts were made by people more intelligent and knowledgeable than most now post now ( including your pathetic replies ), but they were just as nasty, IF NOT NASTIER, than what's been posted this primary season.
Cruz has ALWAYS been one; starting when he worked on W's campaigns!
He lost the deal with non-union men.Been talking with them.Tone it down or they will turn him off.
I think the GOPe screwed the pooch when they did not go all in for Cruz after that little meeting jeb hosted in Fl before the primary
No, someone came up with a clever little game to let Marco try to take Florida and Kasich to take Ohio, then turn to Cruz
Problem was Marco just divided the FL antiTrump vote with Ted, and Kasich became convinced ( or was convinced) that he was the party’s true Great White Hope, so now he’s just an embarrassing spoiler who is hurting Cruz, not Trump
Fail
I don’t blame him for trying because the GOPe keeps trying to sabotage the will of the voters by attempting to stop a candidate supported by a lot of voters.

He WON the deal with the middle class and union men AND women! Been talking with MANY. His “tone” is no problem with those who understand his loyalty to his country! Ha!
I agree.
