Confab ahead of AIPAC speech meant to improve relationship with congressional GOP.

Donald Trump will host a group of nearly two dozen influential Republicans on Monday afternoon for an off-the-record gathering that his allies hope will improve his relationship with the congressional GOP and the party’s Washington establishment, according to two attendees.

The meeting is Trump’s first major meeting with lawmakers and key Republican figures since last fall, when he met with a smaller group at the Capitol after his speech at a protest against the Iranian nuclear agreement.

Several members of the House and Senate are expected to participate, plus a bevy of consultants and veteran power brokers, the attendees said, requesting anonymity to discuss the session.

Ted has trouble getting 35% in a majority of the primaries, but that doesn't stop you from believing he would beat Hillary. On top of that he has zero crossover appeal. Trump has 10s of thousands of crossovers that switched party affiliation. One can only guess how many will just crossover for the election. So Reagan is the appropriate Republican candidate to compare him with, even though I believe that pains you to no end.

I agree power was the wrong word to use, strength is a better choice. Trump is in a position of strength because he is, by a large margin; at least currently, the front runner. Your globalist candidate is also willing to throw his carefully crafted persona of being anti-establishment to the curb when it no longer serves his best interest. Let me guess, you believe he is doing it for your best interest. Is that correct?

Taking money from RNC is different than taking money from lobbyists and ultra-rich donors. Why do you think Robert Mercer gave tens of millions of dollars to Cruz?

The only thing OUTSIDE about Ted Cruz is, he was born OUTSIDE United States.

That does not compute.

Trump wins and they don’t own him. That’s how this works.

Trump should start out with a good aß-kicking for Ryno and the turtle.

No, it’s not above my pay grade.

I’m not sure that Cruz asked for these endorsements. Are you? Could be, since politics is nothing but a game, these endorsements are a} to sink him or b} they don’t have another candidate sine Jeb and Rubio crashed and burned.

I think Trump has “establishment” endorsements...does he not?

Hello,

That is a very good question, and one I would like to have answered as well.

Meeting with members of Congress is not selling out
It is a rather important part of preparing to be the GOP candidate for president and moving beyond being treated like the antichrist
And giving the ones who are patriots the opportunity to accept the vote of the people instead of hand wringing and scheming

Hello,

Thank you for your thoughts, as they are reasonable and based on facts and thoughts that come from looking logically at what we see. I get, all day long, being disappointed in this situation, as that is what I am now.

Good!

I hope Republicans will see the light and start to work with Trump, not against him.

Yes.

But at that time will he be bought by special interests? He is taking outside money.

There ya go. Trump isn’t far from closing the deal. Hard to believe some would expect Trump to reach this point and then refuse or decline to meet with these nice folks in D.C.
