Boehner endorses Paul Ryan for President

Former House Speaker John Boehner Wednesday endorsed current House Speaker Paul Ryan to be the Republican presidential nominee.

At the Republican convention, “anybody can be nominated,” Boehner said at a conference in Boca Raton, Fla.

“If we don’t have a nominee who can win on the first ballot, I’m for none of the above,” Boehner said. "They all had a chance to win. None of them won. So I’m for none of the above. I’m for Paul Ryan to be our nominee.”

Over the last few months, Boehner has privately said that he thought Ryan would be a good candidate to heal a fractured party. The former speaker — who splits his time between Florida, Ohio and D.C. — has said in casual conversations that he thinks Ryan would be a good option if the party has not coalesced around a GOP candidate before the convention. Ryan's staff has recoiled at the notion, saying it was an "incredibly remote scenario," and the "speaker has no interest in it."

“I’m for Paul Ryan to be our nominee.”

The operative word here is “our” as in the ruling elite establishment, not the pick of the people.

Ryan made a lousy VP candidate; he won’t do any better as a presidential candidate.

I was excited when he was named, it took a little of the sting off Romney getting the nod. After all, he was heralded as a smart young budget hawk. Then he debated Joe Biden and let that grinning and giggling fool still manage to tie him. Bad sign and from there it was all down hill, the mask came off and he turned out to be just another big government, pro-amnesty, borrow and spend GOPe jerk.

I wouldn't vote for him for dog catcher at this point. But then again, he'd probably refuse to catch the dogs and instead offer them government benefits if they come out of the shadows.

Gee. Wonder what Wonder Boy Kasich thinks about this?

***************
Very good question. BTW, did you notice that Kasich’s speech last night was all about himself. He’s as dangerously self-centered as Obama and Hillary.

T think Ryan has a primary challenger for his Wisconsin seat.

A good place for Trump to drop some campaign money.

WE own the party. WE should kick them OUT!

We'll see. IF they refuse to give the nomination to Trump or to support him if he wins it outright and throw the election to Hillary then it will be clear who really owns the party. voters are just tools to them, useful idiots they need every two or four or six years so they pat them on the head, tell them some clever lies, and go back to the waiting arms of their democrat lovers (speaking metaphorically) until they're forced to repeat the cycle.

If they voters actually get uppity and start expecting to count, like the Tea Party, they get mocked, fought, undermined, audited with the GOP looking the other way. If they coalesce around a single candidate that the GOPe doesn't like, their contempt for us, the voters, gets even more overt.

The GOP is dead as a real opposition party and has been since Reagan. It's a vestigial organ on the body politic now and it ougt to be excised so something new might rise.

This has nothing to do with Cruz or the Chicago mobs. But don’t let that stop you.

GOPe, MSM and dem operatives worked together on this one. No doubt about it. Trump and voters outsmarted them.

Wouldn’t they have to change rule that the nominee must have won 8 states?

That Rule 40 condition only applies on the first ballot.

If Trump doesn't win on the first ballot, by having a majority of delegates, then it becomes open, the delegates are freed to vote for whoever they want, and ANYBODY can be nominated.

This is why Trump needs a super-majority of delegates, to prevent dirty tricks on the first ballot (like some of his delegates being bribed to not show up).

Cruz and Kasick have no change of winning the delegates needed to win the nomination. Both are only in it to stop Trump from winning so that the GOPe can give the nomination to a true and trusted GOPer like Ryan, Mitt or Jeb.

LOL!

true. I was excited at first too, I thought a conservative was being added to Romney’s ticket. Boy was I wrong! That’s why I don’t think Cruz is what he seems either - there’s too many cracks in the conservative veneer.

If Trump has the most delegates and gets stabbed in the back I think every state would have thousands if not millions of people protesting at government buildings and there could be riots for real.
Then Hillary who is beatable would win.
The cross over Dems sit home.
Most all politically connected invested people stay home or vote third party.

Loss of the House.
loss of the Senate.
Loss of the Supreme Court.
Then the GOP dissolved like the wigs and maybe he People start a whole new party in its place.
