Ohio Gov. John Kasich stuck by his desire for a path to legalization for illegal immigrants in the United States during a Q&A with the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.
He described the idea of deporting millions of illegal immigrants from the U.S. as unacceptable.
"The idea that we're going to pick these people up and ship them out is unbelievable," Kasich said. "It's just not acceptable in America."
Kasich, eighth in the Washington Examiner's power rankings, did not explicitly rule out a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants during his remarks to the Hispanic group, but said he would be satisfied with a path to legalized status for such immigrants.

“He described the idea of deporting millions of illegal immigrants from the U.S. as unacceptable.”
Some moderation here, before he said it was impossible, not it is unacceptable. To me that means it is possible and they are now fighting to stop it. How many hundreds of thousands of Japanese Americans did we put in camps during WWII? Seems to me it was done quickly. Was it wrong, yes, some were Citizens and many were legally here. Why should it be so “unacceptable” to deport a horde of illegals. Surely it is not against the Constitution to do so and those who say they need have their entire rights guaranteed by the Constitution before being deported need to realize the document is not a suicide pact. Furthermore, if we were invaded, and won which these days is questionable, does that mean we would have to have a deportation hearing for each enemy soldier on our soil? Did not happen in 1814, not going to happen now either.
Did the Trump campaign pay him to say that? Is MailmanSon trying to throw the primary?
The word “immigrant” has to be paired with “legal” in every instance. The “illegal” is the ENEMY of the “legal”.
There is a right way and a wrong way to enter and remain in that territory once known as “the United States of America”, and the spirit of America simply disappears in the presence of widespread illegal occupancy.
This country was founded on the continuous stream of people who were born elsewhere, but who chose to emigrate to the United States of America, the “shining city on the hill”, because opportunities were not offered in their own countries, that were held out as an incentive to all in America. But this movement to America requires a very specific social contract. Should you choose to enter America, it is to be of your own free will, and in exchange, certain obligations to accept some very basic requirements in regards to your new neighborhood and your new homeland.
You do not come here to become a burden on your new neighbors. You shall make every effort to become gainfully employed, and not to accept any kind of welfare, particularly from faceless bureaucrats. You shall obey the plainly stated intent of the law, and respect it in your daily life. You shall learn the language of your neighbors, so that you may converse more clearly and with a genuine exchange of information and common courtesy. And having done all this, you are offered the OPPORTUNITY to yourself become an American, an endowment that is so much greater than merely being a visitor here.
There are reasons why the process is so long, drawn-out, and at times so expensive. But to obtain a pearl of great price, it is necessary to rearrange priorities in your personal life, and if this cannot be done, then perhaps you may not be ready to accept the responsibilities of BEING an American.
But using U.S. taxpayer dollars to give them a free ride is acceptable? BS.
In Kasickness’ world, we’re racist for wanting our laws enforced and our border secured.
Got it.
Dura lex, sed lex.
Fine. Let’s just deport John Kasich then.
Rand Paul's immigration speech...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.[Posted on 03/19/2013 7:04:07 AM PDT by Perdogg]
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reformLatinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...[Posted on 04/21/2013 1:52:42 PM PDT by SoConPubbie]
[but he's not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
Is this really what Ohio wants or are they just voting for him because he’s from Ohio?
Yes!!
Every time I hear "we can't deport them" my head almost explodes. WE DIDN"T IMPORT THEM. THEY BROUGHT THEMSELVES HERE AND THEY WILL DEPORT THEMSELVES THE SAME WAY.
Take away the ability for them to earn a living. Take away the freebies. Stop educating their kids. They will leave on their own just the same way they got here.
We have progressed from the slogan that it is not possible to deport all the illegals to it is not acceptable. That is great progress!
“...some of Kasichs most bizarre and radical statements on immigration, which have flown under the radar.
“1) God Bless Illegal Immigrants
Illegal immigrants are a critical part of our society, John Kasich told the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce last October. For those that are here that have been law abiding, God bless them, Kasich saidarguing that illegals should have a path to legalization.
2) I couldnt imagine enforcing our current immigration laws...”
Why not? Is this idiot in favor of handing over America to illegal criminals, on a platter?
Not acceptable to the elites who are bankrolling him, to be exact.
George Soros, for example: Not a big fan of America or her borders. He bought Kasich.
Mexican DUI vehicles are not even towed in many cities, but American DUI vehicles absolutely are. Why? Because Mexicans will simply abandon their cars, so there is no money in it to impound them.
It’s not about safety or sovereignty. It’s solely about money.
John needs to join the Los Angles County Sheriff deputies for a week long night time ride-a-long to learn just what the rest of us are dealing with under the influx of the illegals.
Then, he needs to go spend a week with Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Maricopa County Arizona and ride along with those deputies.
Then, perhaps a week long ride along with the
Border Patrol-—you know—those people who are carrying guns to stop intruders at our border, but have not been allowed to have ammunition per orders from Obama. Maybe they can get some sense into the head of Kasich. He is dead wrong on the issue of invading illegals. I am personally tired of them, and I am not alone.
I don’t know how large or tall the Ivory Tower is that Kasich lives in, but he is completely out of his depth with this problem.
The Anchor babies should NEVER have happened. The 14th Amendment has NOTHING to do with illegals who come to the USA & drop their spawn on our soil. It was meant for the slaves & their children——in the 1800’s.
Truman started Operation Wetback & Eisenhower kept it going in the late 40’s into the early 50’s.
They deported over 11 million ILLEGALS then-——when the USA population was far less than it is now.
I have had plenty of first person encounters with illegals & I would be happy to sit face to face with Kasich & tell him how it really is for people who have to deal with these invaders. He has to come to my house-—I ain’t going anywhere near the cities where all the troubles are.
Dont hire them, they will leave.””’
Don’t hire them
Don’t give them ANY benefits
Don’t give them any Medical
Don’t give them any Medicare
Don’t give them driver’s licenses
Don’t give them paperwork to register to vote
Don’t print ballots in dozens of languages-English only
Don’t put their kids into our schools
Don’t let them rent anything housing
Don’t patch them up at our hospitals.
Don’t let them send a single penny south of the
border thru Western Union.
SHUN them as completely as possible
Use buses to take them back south of the border.
BUILD a WALL-—50 feet high if necessary
It’s been done before. 6 million were deported.
