Interestng thing is that Presidents have extended a sort of courtesy to their predecessors, looking the other way at their various indiscretions while n office.
That is only a sort of unspoken tradition. Professional courtesy for lack of a better term. There is nothing in law that I’m aware of that would prevent a President from telling his AG to investigate and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
Given that Mr. Trump has been known to bear a grudge or two, you would think the current occupant would be a bit more polite.
