There are 4 options for president, 3 of them are bad
The Washington Times ^ | 1/26/2016 | Steve Deace

"One Republican-aligned business figure says some GOP elites will prefer Trump to Cruz because Trump 'has no obvious core political values,' as if this is a positive, in that it makes it more likely that Trump will deal with them. One Republican donor says: 'in the middle of the campaign a lot of people say things that they think are going to help them get elected.'

...Bernie's not just playing a socialist on television like Trump is pretending to be a new age Paul Revere. Sanders actually thinks your money doesn't belong to you unless it is first laundered by the government...

Hillary is the comi-tragic version of the Borg, so why won't you stubborn Americans just give in and be assimilated already? She's literally been lying to you in order to win your approval since Watergate, and it's growing harder and harder to figure out ways to sell her soul.

Trump. Bernie. Hillary. This is where we are—the unholy confluence of 'total-joke-you've got-to-be-kidding-me' and 'drop-dead-serious-perhaps-hope-is-lost'.

Yes, Trump took a hammer to the establishment in an important and sometimes entertaining way. However, now that very same establishment is spooning with Trump, because they see what we should.

There is still time to light a candle in this darkness, and declare ourselves free to follow the lead of the best chance a real conservative has had to be president since Ronald Reagan.

Ted Cruz has feet of clay just like the rest of us. Yet instead of looting us or mocking us or enabling us to act on our worst instincts, he is encouraging us to unite to return our country to the virtues of American Exceptionalism from whence it came.

Enough with the Benedict Arnolds. How about a George Washington for a change?

“How about a George Washington for a change?”

Cruz is not George Washington.

People that keep pumping him up into greatness when he’s only a first-term senator of little achievement, are no different than the people that did it with Obama.

The smell of desperation and fear is so sweet.

I expect more rants, screeds, and over-the-top BS to spill forth from the poison pens and foam speckled lips of a whole host of attack dogs in the coming days.

If Trump pulls off a win in Iowa, I think that many of them will have to be committed to some sort of mental health facility.

That is a disingenuous argument. Cruz's resume is considerably more impressive and relevant than that of Obama's.

When General George Washington led, people followed.

The actual text of the Constitution, the intent of its drafters, 2,000 years of western civilization, logic, common sense, and the previously accepted rules of statutory construction are all now utterly irrelevant.

The Constitution now says whatever the Hell five out of nine Supreme Court Justices currently want it to say. IMHO, this is the primary issue in the election.

Four sitting Supreme Court Justices will be over 80 years old this year (Kennedy, Scalia, Ginsburg and Breyer). Of the remaining five Justices, two are young far left-wing Obama appointees who will be legislating from the bench for the next 30 years (Sotomayor and Kagan), two are reliable conservatives (Thomas and Alito) and the other is a flipper (Roberts).

I am betting that Obama will get to replace at least one of the octogenarian Justices (Ginsburg) and possibly two (Breyer) before he leave office. Ginsburg will step down immediately after the current Court term and if at least a couple of RINOs join with the Democrats to confirm Obama’s far left-wing replacement then Breyer will announce his retirement so that Obama will get to pick his far left-wing replacement as well. That would leave only two octogenarian Justices (Scalia and Kennedy) for the next President to replace, and four young, reliable far left-wing Justices firmly planted on the Court.

If any three of the four octogenarian Justices are replaced with liberals then a far left-wing oligarchy of Supreme Court Justices will rule over every aspect of our lives for the next generation to come. Say goodbye to the Second Amendment, free speech, and every other right that is currently hanging on by a 5 to 4 thread.

On the other hand, if any three of the octogenarians are replaced with strict construction conservatives, then they can join with Thomas and Alito and reverse Roe, homosexual marriage, Obamacare, and every other liberal Supreme Court decree over the past 40 years.

So, our only chance is for the Republicans to hold on to the Senate AND for us to elect a Conservative President who will only nominate Conservative judges. If Chuckie Schumer controls the Senate OR if we elect a President who appoints liberal or moderate judges, then our nations is well and truly screwed.

Then have Cruz run for Governor of Texas and see what he can do. He needs so executive experience. So far he has not shown he is a good executive but only a good policy muck and if he doesn’t get anything done in the Senate, it’s no big deal. But as Governor, you HAVE to get things done.

This election isn’t just about a politically prudent promise to build a wall on Mexico’s dime, immigration reform or even Obamacare. This election goes deeper. All these promises, should they ever even be kept, can be undone by the courts. With an aging U.S.C. which may yield 3 to 4 possible openings in the next 8 years, who do you trust with nominating conservative judges to the Supreme Court?

“Easier to deal with” means he’s a salesman/business man who can be bought for the right price. Think long and hard about that before you pick a candidate who has spent his lifetime and millions of dollars supporting Democrats.

I am so tired of hearing this idea that governors make the best presidents, which has not been borne out by history.

Over the past 100 years (or so) we have had 8 presidents with prior gubernatorial experience:

Theodore Roosevelt
Woodrow Wilson
Calvin Coolidge
Franklin Roosevelt
Jimmy Carter
Ronald Reagan
Bill Clinton
George W. Bush

With the exceptions of Ronald Reagan and Calvin Coolidge, the remaining six have been unmitigated disasters.

That's hardly an encouraging record.

And Reagan wasn't a great president because he was a governor. He was a great president because he understood what America was all about, loved liberty, limited government and free markets, and knew how to sell it.

Ted Cruz is the ONLY consistent, articulate conservative candidate who seems to understand the proper role of the federal government in all respects.

I believe that when one looks at the whole pack, Cruz is the only one who has the brains, the principles and the experience to save this country, if in fact it can be saved after 100 years of Progressive leftist infestation by both parties.

That is the only kind of argument they can make. Cruz is really for we the people, all the people. Trump is only for himself.
Fine koolaid, the best.
