Speaking with Fox News host Chris Wallace this weekend, 2016 GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump made a remarkable statement about what he planned for the Department of Education, if and when he becomes president.
"I may cut Department of Education," Trump said. "I believe Common Core is a very bad thing. I believe that we should be -- you know, educating our children from Iowa, from New Hampshire, from South Carolina, from California, from New York. I think that it should be local education."
Many Americans agree, especially as the Department of Education has grown into a massive bureaucracy more focused on indoctrinating students in the Islamic faith and "white privilege" than in actually teaching them things that matter, like, say, literature and math.
Plus, getting rid of the Department of Education would give parents much more power over what their children learn.
However, whether Trump could get actually rid of Common Core, which is his apparent goal, remains to be seen.
As The Daily Caller reporter Blake Neff explained, "While Common Core is promoted indirectly by the Department of Education, it is still adopted individually by state governments, and the federal government does not control it."
Still, it's a very worthwhile goal to consider since many parents are fed-up with Common Core's "one-size-fits-all" approach to education.
Frankly, education is much too important to be mass produced ... and thankfully, most Americans, including Donald Trump, get this.

The Dept of Education should be called the Dept of Indoctrination!
GO TRUMP!!
I dunno... I would definitely fire the entire Justice Dept. first. But then, that’s me.
Still following Cruz’s policies I see. Cruz said this weeks ago.
Kill Common Core.
He just put the nail in Jeb Bush’s campaign’s coffin.
Sounds good
That too should be cut, but I’m horrified for our children and what they are trying to do to them.
The Dept of Education should be one of the top 3 to cut.
YES!!!!
Kick CommieCore to the depths of the oceans.
CommieCore is the evil tool of the libs...to brainwash our youth, to their horrid agenda.
Well, you’ve got to admit. The Department of “Education” is a tremendous waste of taxpayer dollars. The U.S. Government is the last agency that should be involved in education.
People underestimate the political strength of the teachers’ unions. Many believe they pay off Dem politicians, but the fact is the Dem Party itself is simply the political arm of those unions. They are a perfect political party, with cadres in just about every municipality in the country. Like notable military leaders, they live off the land of their enemies (by forcing taxpayers to fund their political arm, which in turn further oppresses those same taxpayers).
FEARLESS!
States adopted it for the money.
No dept of Ed means no money.
No money means no common core.
There are a number of other departments that he should shut down and possibly reformulate just to clean out the leftist riff-raff.
No can do....You fill those positions with your guys and you do it asap. AG needs “advice and consent” by the Senate.
“I dunno... I would definitely fire the entire Justice Dept. first. But then, thatâs me.”
Me, too. Gotta get rid of the impediment known as Justus.
Representatives from Connecticut should not be dictating what people from Texas (or any other state) should be teaching their children.
Dept.of Education doesn’t even make sense seeing as its a state run issue.
Or the “eat your peas” program. Sorry Michelle....the whole thing was stupid.
Really? I thought all the attorneys who are at the DoJ work at the pleasure of the president, except for the AG.
Works well for Cruz, he thought he’d return the favor.
The Federal Government is like the Mafia.
They steal Money from the Taxpayers in all 50 States, then they give 75% of it back and keep 25% as a cut to provide Protection.
The Caveat, the States can only spend their 75% on entities controlled by other Mobsters, the Teacher Unions.
