However, Rubio is still the loser of this debate. Unlike the Florida man, Cruz never co-sponsored immigration reform with Chuck Schumer, but instead opposed that legislation. And Cruz, though he seems to have favored amnesty (in the sense of a path to legalization), never favored a path to citizenship, as Rubio did. To me, and probably a great many other Republicans, granting citizenship to those who violated our immigration laws is significantly more egregious than permitting them to remain here with legal status.
But this doesnât mean Cruz is the winner. Why? Because Donald Trump has insisted that illegal immigrants can never become legal unless they leave the country. This is a harder line position than what Cruz favored in 2013.
For the first time, Cruz seems vulnerable to his right on the key issue of immigration. And heâs vulnerable to the frontrunner in the race.
Cruz, though, has probably understood for some time that his prospects depend on Trump faltering at some stage. For now, his campaign will probably be satisfied if he has struck a major blow against Rubio, the candidate most likely to stand his way if the

Is that a problem for you?
Is that NOT a problem for you?
“To me, and probably a great many other Republicans, granting citizenship to those who violated our immigration laws is significantly more egregious than permitting them to remain here with legal status.”
Uh no they all need to go. Buh Bye end of story.
Its Legalization status not citizenship that Cruz proposed and now he suggests it was a poison pill. I have a hard time buying this from Cruz who we have contributed to twice, and I am on his donor email list. Cruz did vote for a bill eventually, that didn’t have his language in it. Maybe he at that point wanted to get along by going along, but its not convincing me.
What bothers me is Cruz wanting 5x the H1b visa’s as his position. I know most freepers like me don’t like this position of Ted’s. But, I still like Ted on 95 percent of what he stands for. I wish he would publically disavow this stand.
I am an engineer and IT person, and believe me we have generations of STEM people out of jobs that the Indian and Asian engineers have taken on H1b visas. Close to 1 million foreigners doing work Americans want.
H1b send money back home, they don’t buy homes, a major economic loss. Our college grads are defaulting on loans because they can’t get jobs they trained for, and the taxpayers me and you are on the hook for these dead paper.
A flip flop by Ted would only help him. When your wrong you just say your wrong. There is now Stem shortage.
I have an out of work friend with 2 masters degrees consulting as a H1b programmer trainer. He says he knows lots of people free to do the same job but for 35 percent more money, its so dishonest what the Cheap Labor Express does to their fellow Americans.
How many dumb asses are going to keep regurgitating Rubio's talking points?
Guess they are smarter than Sessions, Levin, and Limbaugh combined!!!!! /s
“I am an engineer and IT person, and believe me we have generations of STEM people out of jobs that the Indian and Asian engineers have taken on H1b visas. Close to 1 million foreigners doing work Americans want.”
I’m not in IT but know people who are and I’m certain that you are correct.
Outside immigration, Trump's positions are very similar to Guliani. Care to discuss that?
....and the MSM got caught out on their lying. Result? Trump went up in polls. He has broken open the tightly guarded secret of how Washington works. The MSM will keep on trying, but the cat is out of the bag and people are much less likely to listen to what they have to say. So they are in a panic along with the “Establishment.”
GO TRUMP!
The ONLY ISSUES that count right now are Immigration and Stopping the Muslims from invading. Everything else is secondary. Trump is solid as a rock on both. That’s all anyone who cares about America should care about. Those issues are the key to all others, especially the economy. Fix immigration and get the blood suckers out of the country and the economy will grow, producing more jobs and repairing our infrastructure.
I think both Cruz & Rubio are irrelevant. So tired of hearing how Cruz is the only true conservative in the race, what a crock.
Trump is living the Constitution, exercising his 1st Amendment rights despite being assaulted by politicians and PC police.
He’s flaunting his 2nd Amendment rights by having a carry permit and supporting gun rights at every single rally.
He’s for getting education, healthcare, other federal programs back to local levels, the states i.e. 10th Amendment.
I think Rush pushes this Cruz only conservative crap because he can’t take credit for Trump’s success. If there’s an ego bigger than Trump, it’s Rush.
Fact is the only true conservative in this race is Trump. He’s living the Constitution against staggering odds.
You position your self has a LEADER by establishing a dialogue, even with your enemies.
In this case, you can be the judge as to whether Putin is an enemy or not.
I'm alluding to the fact that TRUMP is engaging him with his comments, as opposed to Obunga who has tried to "dis" Putin and has created an adversarial position for himself.
We're simply observing the difference between a LEADER and a lightweight.
Exactly right. Granting illegals a path to legal status-——>next step is giving them voting rights by next liberal president, saying “it is unAmerican to deny legal immigrants voting rights”.
Securing the border has been his primary nonnegotiable issue from the beginning. He hasn't waivered.
Every attempt to make it seem like he waivers on that issue not only falls flat, it draws ridicule even from people who support other candidates.
And quite properly so.
Fillet is too neat & tidy - I have visions of rotting bloated whale corpses being blown up on beaches.
+1
Cruz.
