ICYMI: CRUZ: We Have No Business Getting in the Middle of the Syrian Civil War; Goal Should be to Defeat ISIS

Speaks with WRKO’s Jeff Kuhner

HOUSTON, Texas – Today U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, spoke with The Kuhner Report regarding the Obama administration’s disastrous foreign policy, the 2016 presidential race and the President’s decision to politicize the tragedy in Oregon.

Below is an excerpt. Listen to the full interview here:

Ted Cruz on the Kuhner Report (Audio)

“I think it would be a mistake to get involved in the Syrian civil war. There have been voices in Washington eager for us to send our sons and daughters over to fight that civil war for some time. I haven’t been one of them. I think the touchstone of U.S. military policy should be protecting the national security of this country.

“What we’re seeing Putin in Russia do is a direct response to the profound weakness of Obama over six and a half years. Putin views Obama as weak, as ineffective, and frankly, as a laughingstock. And, as a result, he is moving in, he is invading his neighbors – like Ukraine – he’s kidnapping Estonians, and he’s moving into Syria to gain a stronger foothold in the Middle East. What our focus should be is not on the Syrian civil war, but rather on defeating ISIS. Why? Because ISIS poses a clear threat to us. ISIS, they are the face of evil, they are crucifying Christians, they are murdering Americans, and they have pledged to wage jihad and kill more Americans, and what we need, Jeff, is a strong Commander-in-Chief, that says we will defeat ISIS, and we should do so using overwhelming air power, not this photo-op foreign policy of a bomb here and a missile there, but overwhelming airpower going after ISIS. And number two, arming the Kurds on the ground who are fighting ISIS. Let them be our boots on the ground.

“We have no business, I think, getting in the middle of the Syrian civil war. And part of the reason the Obama foreign policy has failed so badly, is he spent hundreds of millions of dollars pursuing these mythical, moderate rebels – that by and large don’t exist – and instead of arming our actual friends, the Kurds, the Israelis, the Jordanians, the Egyptians, all of them who are actually right now helping go after ISIS, we should stand with our real allies, not engage in this weak and politically correct nonsense that’s coming out from the Obama Administration.”

Bibi said the same thing at the UN the day after Trump did. Something about if your enemies want to fight, strand back let them fight and then pick up the pieces. (Or bury their dead)

As far as I am concerned I stand by my post WWII opinion that after Korea the US would have been best served to maintain our military forces for the protection of the US and not to keep the oil pumps in Saudi Arabia going to suck up the money from US citizens. Of course the war hero Bush1 and family had to protect the Saudi Sheiks. Just in case someone thinks I have/had no play in what went on my brother was killed on Okinawa and I served on Leyte.

These ratings are based on deeds, not words.

For Conservative Review ratings, they are compiling many years worth of actions, not one year, to prevent career politicians from voting conservatively on their re-election year to bump their ratings in order to fool their constituents back home.

We should be the hammer and Russia the anvil. Drive ISIS back towards Syrian and totally annihilate them. Make their retreat look like the highway of death after the first Gulf War.

I would like to think both, but they have separate campaigns now as far as we know.

I agree very much.... Ted sees it as it is and not as Obama who thinks it should be.... One can lead..the other can't do squat because they live in a fantasy world of unreality.

OBLITERATED: ..................Oct 4th Putin's jets blasted ISIS terrorist "Headquarters" with bunker-buster bombs.

....a direct hit on the installation resulted in the detonation of explosives and multiple fires. It was completely demolished......It looks like the Russian success rate is based on more accurate intelligence regarding target acquisition. Probabaly because Putin put "infiltraters" into ISIS and ISIL awhile back....

Military says Putin has brought the best of his military equipment to this conflict, and the first used outside the country.

The moment headquarters were hit....

Budget: Cruz has made massive financial deals, has put tens of thosuands of people to work, has run a billion dollar business, and protected a bottom line.  Next flight of fantasy...
Civil Liberties: Trump has said he'll round up and deport illegal immigrants, build a wall that is 60 feet tall along our border.  This results in his red marker on civil liberties.  No sale.
Free Market: The "FREE MARKET"...  Nothing in life is free.  The cost of this "FREE MARKET" has been tens of millions of U. S. jobs.  Trump wants to bring them back.  That warrants a red marker.  LOL
Health Care and Entitlements: Trump has proposed a private sector replacement of Obamacare.  He wants to reduce entitlements as part of getting the budget under control.  This red marker is simply proposterous.
Moral issues:  What moral issues?  Good grief.  Name one moral issue Trump has a problem with.
Second Amendment:  This is simply a fraud.  Trump has a paper on Second Amendment rights, and it's recognized as a good one.
Taxes, Economy, and Trade:  Trump's tax position is good.  His economic experience is second to very few U. S. Citizens.  His trade view are more solid than any other candidate's.

In Cruz's favor, his free market mark isn't deserved either.

Trump is the go to guy because of his economic experience.  He is solid on other issues as well, but second to illegal immigration, our national debt and related matters are vitally important and need to be addressed.  Trump is the only candidate with the experience necessary to do that.

Cruz supporters are pleased to drop this bomb on the forum.

It isn't an accurate display on Trump.  As such it's actually a smear on Cruz when his supporters tout it as a reason to support Cruz.  What they should be doing is pointing out the obvious flaws in this ranking.  And RANK is the proper word here....
