do I..

Russia is doing what we should have done and finished years ago..

If Obama hadn’t got in n 2008, this would have been over and moped up by a president who cared about the citizens of our country and the West and not the Islamic terrorists..

Put yourself in Putin’s shoes. If you saw what is clearly a Shia backing American regime fomenting the breakdown of stability in the Middle East, wouldn’t you feel both an obligation and an opportunity to step in...

Syria is just the start. Saudi, Turkey, and even Egypt are staring to look at American bad actors and it won’t be long until they are looking for allies against the American/Iran alliance in the region

Why would Putin seize such an opportunity. Can you blame him?

Something Jimmy Carter to this day has never figured out about Iran.

The new leaders may be worse than the current leader.

Of course being light-years ahead of Carter on a given subject wouldn’t be all that difficult.

None the less, the MSM fawns on Carter’s every word.

Trump? Not so much...

So Trump wants to essentially strengthen Assad who is allied with Iran and Hezbollah by supporting Russia who is also busy threatening our NATO allies and gobbling up Ukraine.

No thanks.

I think Trump admires Putin because he likes the “strong man” alpha male thing. He doesn’t seem to realize that Putin is trying to rebuild the old Soviet empire and is working to erode US influence and power around the world.

So Tough Guy Trump now supports the Putin program to control Middle Eastern oil supply routes?

Ain’t that just dandy!

And Trump continues to set the agenda in today’s politics. He has gotten pretty good at this.

Plus, it lets Putin, because he’s not a partisan in the Shia/Sunni divide as America has become, play both sides.

He can reach out to the Sunni govts disaffected by the Jarret Administration without having to sacrifice his relationship with Iran. However Iran may dislike the duplicity, they are gong to spurn Putin’s nuclear aid.

It’s a golden opportunity.

Putin is trying to rebuild the old Soviet empire and is working to erode US influence and power around the world.

How naive are you? Obama has already accomplished the erosion of US influence and power around the world. Putin just stepped into the vacuum created by Obama.

If we develop our own resources we don;t need MidEast oil.

Besides, you can thank Obama for the Russian, Chinese and Iranian presence being built up in the Middle East—he engineered the whole debacle-—not Trump. The time to worry about the “Mideast oil routes” was five years ago—forget about now—that ship has sailed.

Also, we have paid enough for that worthless sandbox—$2 trillion, 5,000 best and brightest dead soldiers; and 50,000 more of the best and brightest without arms, legs, and some with brain injuries.

We may still be able to salvage buying oil and natural gas from Israel from their huge fields off their coast.

I think that Trump sees the threat in ISIS and in the Assad regime that gases its own people. He is merely saying that he understands that the Russians are doing the job that we won’t do. I don’t believe that he supports Russian expansionism and it is disingenuous to suggest he does.

Obama ‘leading from behind’ has created a vacuum.

Putin seems to be stepping up to fill that vacuum.

Putin seems to recognize the regional danger of a growing ISIS/ISIL. Obama is going golfing.

Asked about whether Assad was the source of the country's ills, Trump said it was not clear and questioned who would replace him if he were ousted.

That is exactly right! We backed the Egyptian coup and the islamofascist Muslim Brotherhood took over. We backed the Libyan coup and the islamofascist Muslim Brotherhood + Al Qaeda ansar al sharia took over, and now the country is in chaos.

All along many here on Free Republic have opposed Obama's plan to topple Assad because they didn't have a clue who was taking over.

We do know that under Assad Christians were not beheaded, kidnapped, forced into exile and refugee status.

Israel had a recourse of action against Assad that had kept him at bay for years.

And these stupid policies of Obama, Clinton, and Kerry have been no-brainers from the outset. Keep a force in Iraq, do not interfere with Assad, leave Egypt and Libya and others alone.

Ok?

So given the reality of the situation, what is your plan?
