How naive are you? Obama has already accomplished the erosion of US influence and power around the world. Putin just stepped into the vacuum created by Obama.
Agree with you about the damage Obama has done, but that doesn't mean we would want to support Putin who wants to keep Assad afloat and strengthen the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah axis. Additionally, Putin is actively working to weaken NATO, threaten our Baltic allies, dismember Ukraine, etc. The idea that Trump is going to get along great with Putin is laughable. True, the two are kinda alike projecting the alpha male strong man thing, but Putin wishes to rebuild the old Soviet empire at the expense of the US and West. He is a threat, not someone to be playing patty-cake with.
