Trump: 'Lightweight' Rand Paul doesn't belong in debate
The Hill ^ | September 12, 2015 | Cory Bennett

Posted on 09/12/2015 6:18:26 PM PDT by maggief

GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump poked at rival Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Twitter on Saturday, calling him a “lightweight” who shouldn’t be allowed in Wednesday’s CNN presidential debate.

Trump needled Paul in a series of tweets:

(see below)

Trump’s shots came hours after Paul joked about the GOP frontrunner in an interview with Politico. “I think I was a little too easy on Donald Trump last time,” Paul said in the interview, referencing a heated exchange the two had in an August Fox News presidential debate. “That’s given in jest," he added.

Later in the interview, Paul unfavorably compared Trump to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who suspended his presidential bid Friday.

“You have a long-term governor from a large conservative state leaving the field, and meanwhile, the media continues to reinforce a celebrity that really doesn’t have qualifications for office and in fact would alarm me if he were in charge of our nuclear weapons,” Paul said.

“So, really, I think it’s a serious versus the unserious. And there is a danger that if we continue to laud so much attention on basically someone whose level of discourse is that of junior high, I think there’s a problem, there’s a great risk for the country.”

Rand Paul is so mad, he’s bleeding from his whatever.

Rand thought he would be doing much better in the run for the nomination.

After all, he was praised for “campaigning where others don’t go,” - like Bezerkly and Ferguson!

I like Rand Paul in the Senate fighting for our individual freedoms. Everybody can’t be President. He’s doing a better job as a Senator.

Only a lightweight would let his girlfriend, (now wife), change his name from Randy, as he’d been called all his life, because it didn’t ‘fit him.’

I am still pissed at Rand for sucking up to the Black Lives Matter terrorists in Ferguson

“Paul reminds me of McCain and Romney. It seems that he really isn’t interested in winning.”

He strikes me as a gadfly, just like his father who in all his years in Congress never put his name on anything. He just used his office to make noise about the stuff in which he was interested.

Well Paul said something and now the game is on....

That is a key point! Trump only attacks other Republicans after they have attacked him.

“Rand has his supporters on FR, but they spend most of their time posting nasty things about Donald Trump instead of trying to raise up their guy.”

Can you blame them? There is only so much ‘upside’ possible for Rand.

“I am still pissed at Rand for sucking up to the Black Lives Matter terrorists in Ferguson”

I’m not too hot about him being against Voter ID and for giving Felons the right to vote.

I’d APPRECIATE IT if he would try to help Republican efforts to win, rather than Democrat efforts.

I didn’t know his real name is Randy. She probably wanted it changed because the word “randy” means horny in Great Britain.

If we do not stop the ongoing invasion/colonization/cheap labor importation we won’t have a nation.

The sovereignty of our nation has already been discarded.

Official announcement of such happens on September 23 at the UN in New York City.

If you thought Agenda 21 sounded bad, just wait till you hear what The 2030 Agenda means for our country.

Bingo. I love Trump, but sometimes I wish he would respond with an answer like yours instead of always saying lightweight and clown. Of course, Rand is a lightweight on many of his positions so what do I know?

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...
