GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump poked at rival Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Twitter on Saturday, calling him a “lightweight” who shouldn’t be allowed in Wednesday’s CNN presidential debate.
Trump needled Paul in a series of tweets:

Trump’s shots came hours after Paul joked about the GOP frontrunner in an interview with Politico. “I think I was a little too easy on Donald Trump last time,” Paul said in the interview, referencing a heated exchange the two had in an August Fox News presidential debate. “That’s given in jest," he added.
Later in the interview, Paul unfavorably compared Trump to Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who suspended his presidential bid Friday.
“You have a long-term governor from a large conservative state leaving the field, and meanwhile, the media continues to reinforce a celebrity that really doesn’t have qualifications for office and in fact would alarm me if he were in charge of our nuclear weapons,” Paul said.
“So, really, I think it’s a serious versus the unserious. And there is a danger that if we continue to laud so much attention on basically someone whose level of discourse is that of junior high, I think there’s a problem, there’s a great risk for the country.”

I truly understood the appeal of Ron Paul, but his son, @RandPaul, didn't get the right gene.

Too many people on stage for debate. @RandPaul at 11th, with 2% in @RealClearNews, shouldn't be allowed to participate.

Well Paul said something and now the game is on....
There were originally only supposed to be 10 spots. So Carly gets in because she is at three so whomever is 11th gets the hook, right?
Rubio may be the next to last still standing....maybe after the next debate we will get some more light on who will be leaving sooner rather than later.
I expect Paul to run fro president for the next 30 years LOL.

I don’t see Rand Paul getting much sympathy on FR. I like Rand but he’s poking the bear so he needs to expect to get poked back. Politics is a full contact sport.

Seriously, is there any thing more unserious than advocating for the abandonment of the rule oof law and the surrender of the country to fraudulently documented foreigners?
If we do not stop the ongoing invasion/colonization/cheap labor importation we won’t have a nation.

One thing Paul said might have been a joke, but the other things were not. This is written to sound like Trump started this feud - which he clearly did not.

I know I’m not supposed to like Trump, but when he says stuff like this I simply can’t help myself.
I would like to see Trump throw a few other major policy initiatives out there soon, though. Things the GOPe would never go for but the taxpaying population would love.
Hopefully he's saving them for the right time.
Rand has his supporters on FR, but they spend most of their time posting nasty things about Donald Trump instead of trying to raise up their guy.
Well Trump is giving a national security speech Tues from the deck of the USS Iowa memorial so we shall see what he’s come up with.
Paul reminds me of McCain and Romney. It seems that he really isn’t interested in winning.
