Ohio Governor John Kasich said Thursday that he has been prodded toward a presidential bid by former Florida governor Jeb Bushs failure to establish a commanding lead in the Republican primary.
Frankly, I thought that Jeb was going to just suck all the air out of the room. And it just hasnt happened. No hit on Jeb, Kasich said, explaining his consideration of a second run at the White House.
The two-term governor and former US House member, who briefly ran for president in 2000, has failed to show much strength in early polling. But his leadership of a swing state, conservative fiscal record dating to his House tenure, and folksy style have made him an appealing candidate to some Republicans.
He talks like I do, said Doug Scamman, the former speaker of the New Hampshire House, whose farm played host to Mitt Romneys 2012 presidential launch.

Translation. Jeb can't win.
Isn’t Scott Walker already working that corner?
Kasich is one who most Rep think very highly of. I like him.
I agree. But I wonder what goes through the head of so many of these people that are deciding to run. Do they have people whispering in their ears. They can be the next Mr President of the United States. Do they day dream about being the most powerful man on earth and can’t resist the allure?
Kasich is my governor. Walker is more conservative that Kasich, imho. I like Kasich, but he’s an oddball. I mean truly an oddball. He gives long thoughtful addresses that would be more welcome in a seminary class on putting Christianity into Action than in a campaign stop. I was standing alongside some high school students when he came to our town during his first gubernatorial campaign, and he asked them a simple question about US government. They didn’t have a clue. He grinned at them, talked to their teacher who explained they maybe weren’t the students most interested in school, but they were available and wanted to come see a candidate.
His big thing is getting welfare people off of welfare. He says that can’t happen unless we can get them and the nation to the point that what they make at entry level jobs matches what they can get via handouts.
Gary Condit’s only friend. And best friend.

Boy did he disappear fast from DC when Condidit was in trouble...
His expansion of Medicaid (essentially doing what Obamacare was secretly intended to do) is not quite the 'independence from public assistance' I had in mind.
He used to be a very fine conservative, so I've been told. Now, he's probably pretty high on the "fallback" list for crazed globalists with a pro-corporate agenda.
His expansion was also part of his oddball mindset. His explanation of that is that the Fed was taking all this money from Ohio and he wanted to get it back in some form or other. He was able to find a way to get Ohio tax revenue back through the Medicaid route.
Now, like it or not, and I don’t, his point is correct. He has recaptured Ohio money to be spent in Ohio.
Medicaid was not likely to have it’s rules changed the last 2 years...and they didn’t change. He’s right about that, too. I don’t know if he’s a lawyer or an accountant, but if he’s a lawyer, then he’s pretty sharp about accounting.
His problem with conservatism is that he’s squishy on social issues.
I would agree with that or we have to cut those plans. I highly doubt we can cut those plans without a race war. What I recall Kasich for was the Balanced Budget Act. I had to look up what year as it was before 2000.It was 1997. Kasich is very smart as he authored the alternative to Clinton’s budget and it was Kasich’s that was enacted. We had the first budget surplus since 1969 thanks to Kasich. That is what I look for.
I want to encourage them (RINO's Inc.) all to run until the end......
:-)
The RINO’s love the status quo, anything to keep the graft and good times in the beltway going.
LOL!.
This is a relatively recent Kasich quote. You won’t believe what you read:
“ike a lot of people, I’m of two minds on some of the fantastic stories. Some are clearly metaphor and allegory; others stand as factual recounting of human history, taken from the historical record. I believe it’s important to repeat that here, I stand on the side of fact. I believe there was indeed an ark—and not just any ark but an impossibly, unfathomably huge ark—and that Noah undertook this impossibly, unfathomably huge task and completed it heroically. And I don’t just CHOOSE to believe this because it pleases me to do so. I’ve read a bunch of texts and studied all kinds of histories and have come to the conclusion that there was indeed a man called Noah, who did indeed build a giant ark, which did indeed weather a tremendous flood and bring about a great change. “
Honest to goodness, listening to Kasich give a speech is a trip.
Kasick is to Jeb Bush what Jethro was to the Beverly Hillbillies..
Kasich is smarter than Bush
Kasich is smarter than Bush and Bush is smarter than PeeWee Herman and Laura is smarter than Kim Kardashian..
BUT....the gene pool is taint’ed...
